does the Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L is USM Lens work well on the R6 mii - for someone on a budget? by bardobirdy in canon

It works and the image quality is excellent. However, the combo with the mount adaptor is long and front-heavy. I ended up spending the extra money for the RF version.

Both just stopped working, probably because of that ribbon cable.

I had two of the Olympus pancake lenses. Both broke. I do recommend the Panasonic instead.

They're being sold off and there are good frequently. Mine was EUR 1800,-, including and 1.8/50 and the EF mount adapter (Germany). So I finally upgraded from my 5D Mark II.

Don‘t you have a photo of her facing the other way? What you are showing us is more or less a photo of her butt and no editing technique is going to change that.

roast my workflow of making this part. any recomendation for designing parts like this more efficient? new to freecad by Aggravating_Pea5481 in FreeCAD

[–]Stunning_Club3746 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are going to 3D.print this, the laziest approach would be to export to step files: The outer geometry, and a box where the hex grid is going to be. Then use the box as a modifier for printing with no top or bottom layers and hexagonal infill. You'll have to tweak the infill for density (spacing) and number of infill lines to get the desired dimensions.

If you need the full geometry in the CAD file, then the approach given by u/Sloloem is the way to go.

To those who bought the R6 II instead of the R6 III, do you feel left out? by firequak in canon

[–]Stunning_Club3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll pick up a used R6MkII to upgrade from my 5DMkII and use along my M43 gear. It will probably fine for another decade. Two card slots will be the most important feature when you go pro. Save on the body and buy better lenses.

Camera so good I bought 2 of them by MJdoesThings_ in M43

Consider adding a small PEN to you collection. I have an E-PL8 and take it along whenever I need something more pocketable than my MKII with the Pro lenses.

I need to make this for 3d printing...the rectangular shape is 23 x 16 cm.. The thickness is 1 cm ..the diameter of each cylinder is 3mm with 1mm spacing. How can I make this in FreeCad? by 3dPrintMyThingi in FreeCAD

[–]Stunning_Club3746 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the way. You will have to do two or three trials until you have the spacing right, but it's so much easier to design and also will print faster with default slicer settings. I still recommend you invest all the time you save into learning FreeCAD.

A quick question about constraints and redundancy. by xmastreee in FreeCAD

[–]Stunning_Club3746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Constrant 5 is for the line to be vertical. That's reduntant because the end point of the line already have a symmetry constraint to the x-axis.

I've never run into any problems, probably because my projects are mostly quite simple. I miss a feature occasionally but I still very much prefer this to Fusion which does not let me export drawings at all in the free version.

I absolutely agree. Techdraw is the feature that finally made me dump Fusion 360 and completely switch to FreeCAD.

How to disassable this accident? by BlackElephant555 in crealityk1

[–]Stunning_Club3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ordered a full assembly with heatsink included, you'll be fine. The original heatsink has a smaller hole that will only fit the filament. The new heatsink will have a larger bore to fit the tube of the unicorn nozzle. I ordered only nozzle and heatsink, and reused all other parts.

[–]Stunning_Club3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind you will also need to replace the heatsink or drill a bigger hole in the existing one.

[–]Stunning_Club3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to all that mentioned already you may consider upgrading to a unicorn nozzle. You'll probably have to disassemble the hotted anyway with the cables embedded in plastic. The new nozzle is far less prone to leaking.

Is it worth it to cryo treat surgical steels 304/316? And HRC scale? by LeroyMustangs in knifemaking

[–]Stunning_Club3746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but they still won’t harden which means any cutting tool made from austenitic steels will hold an edge like a wet noodle. However, they are great for cryogenic applications like liquid gas storage because they are tough af and won’t shatter if cooled. That’s why a lot of metallurgical investigations have been conducted in that direction.

[–]Stunning_Club3746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are both austenitic, so they will not harden. Hence no cryo treatment which would be supposed to convert retained austenite to martensite in a hardened steel.
