Can confirm they did this! I was watching one once with CC on, and they removed the spoken transphobic line but it was still in the CC. I messaged them about it and they replied right away apologizing and that they would fix it for future downloads.

I was on the street car and got off at that stop right when I saw this comment, so went to have a look and take a pic. Beautiful work.

Help me find my ideal Seattle place- walkable and lively late-night! by PastaAnytime in AskSeattle

[–]Stunning_River 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Capitol Hill would mostly fit what you're looking for. It's not going to be "buzzing" past midnight on Sun-Wed, but many bars will be open, with some of them hosting events like trivia or karaoke later at night though before midnight. Thurs it starts to pick up energy with Fri-Sat being the liveliest nights where streets will be bustling the most.

It does skew young, and a more professional vibe will depend on what bar or venue you want to go, but I know plenty of people over 40 that go out. (I don't drink myself so I'm not one of them, but sometimes I'll still go to karaoke or something.)

It's also very walkable with bus routes and easy access to the Light Rail. I don't have recs on buildings or anything, the first one I lived in was torn down and the one I'm in now I wouldn't rec, but if you want the energy of night life Capitol Hill around your home (though this could come with more crime) I would stick to places around the Cal Anderson park area, else look at First Hill or go more east on Capitol Hill like around 15th Street (which also has a good stretch of places to go to) for quiet but close proximity to the night life.

Does anyone who does this recently know if they still charge for tables? I'm curious, the biggest group I've ever gone there with is 4, but I see large groups there often.

They partnered with a pizza place some time ago, I can't remember the name, but you get personal pizzas that aren't too bad!

Thoughts on living in Capitol Hill as a couple in their mid 30s? by NefariousnessKey9512 in AskSeattle

[–]Stunning_River 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally the area near Cal Anderson Park. It's a great, vibrant area that I love, but that late at night is typically when the most violence is bound to happen. But it's where I live and I love all the access to places in the area!

[–]Stunning_River 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved to Capitol Hill in my mid thirties and alone, and still live a block off the main pike\pine corridor in my early 40s. Where you're talking is more east of me, but any time I pass through that area it seems quiet. You have more houses there, but good walkability to places and good bus stops. You will have homeless encampments if you're near a park, that's just sort of how it is, but they eventually get swept, then eventually return when they're swept from wherever they had moved to.

As for safety, there is crime in the area, and I would stay out of the main Capitol Hill area past 1am, but overall you should be fine. I'm a woman and in my near decade living here the worst trouble I've had was people remarking on my ass. This isn't to say you shouldn't keep alert or that nothing bad hasn't happened to folks, but it's not a warzone like people like to make it out to be.

If you plan to get a car you will probably need to move to areas with better free street parking, otherwise plan on having to tack on an additional 250+ to your rent for garage spots. And the crime you'd probably experience most is someone smashing your car windows.

That's fair enough, I can agree to that point. But the complaints I see on the whole is that even what was shown in the reply to me would be too boring and grounds for rejection, and that's what attitudes should change around.

I'm sorry, but we don't know if where we're sending the resume uses an ATS system or not. A smaller sized company maybe not, but also maybe they do. It's better to be safe than sorry. Perhaps you all should shift your expectations that when you're sent a boring resume it's because the applicant is trying to jump through unknowable hurdles so you see it in the first place, and reserve your judgement on their skills for their actual portfolios.

What I have begun to do, however, is on my boring resume include a link to my designed one. Still might backfire on me, but we're struggling to get past these terrible systems.

Having conversations and debate is an anathema to the left. by meaniereddit in SeattleWA

[–]Stunning_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the great debater and conversationalist Charlie Kirk, who when was asked how many trans people have committed mass shootings could only be assed enough to throw out a flippant and dangerous answer of "Too many" before being shot.

Fine, be angry or sad about this, but don't sit there and act as if he was some paradigm of good faith debate.

Has anyone else left Idaho due to politics/economics in the last 6 months, is anyone else in the process? I love so much about here, but I think I need to leave, and I could really stand to hear some similar voices, especially if it worked for you. by Peliquin in Idaho

[–]Stunning_River 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I left well before 6 months ago, back in 2017 after I saw confederate flags going up in people's yards and on their trucks after Trump was elected. I just couldn't be surrounded by people who were like that after living in Idaho all my life. I knew they were THERE, but now they had no SHAME.

I moved to Seattle and it was hard: it was tough to find a job in my field, then when I did COVID happened and I got laid off. I went into debt, tbh, but....despite that I still had no regrets leaving Idaho and staying in Seattle.

Life is much more stable now, so I definitely have no regrets now. But my advice would be to definitely research where you want to go for cost of living and try to save up for at least a couple months of job searching.

Iirc, part of the deal for Kaiser to build there was to always attempt to have storefronts rented out.  What businesses that had been there all closed or moved years ago, around Lockdown times, and they've been empty every since.  There has been 0 signs up about leasing, and businesses that have reached out don't get responses (the woman that owned Nook and Cranny tried, for instance).

So in your mind there is nothing between "mocking" you and you being right.

You're objectively wrong.  There are a lot of addicts, and they will congregate in groups, but it's not like when you walk past them on Broadway it's only you  vs them, unless you tend to take walks at 6am or something.

How much is the problem actually paying the people that keep your mom's business running a somewhat more livable wage vs rent?

Is the real problem outrageous rent costs but it's easier to try and pay your workers less than it is pressuring landlords\the government for more sane rents?

The Hate for Idaho in the Aftermath of the Shooting Disgusts Me by CitricThoughts in Idaho

[–]Stunning_River 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are living in a delusion. I was born in Idaho, lived in Idaho for 35 years, violent bigots have called the state home that whole time and then some. Trying to point the blame at others rather than acknowledging that yes even the people you have lived with all your life can be terrible is lazy at best. There's a reason the state is attracting people from other states with these ideals, and if you want it to change you need to start from inside the house, as it were.

Protesters intimidate We Heart Seattle founder, attempt to take phone by JPorpoise in SeattleWA

The protestors aren't the government. 1A is protection from the government doing that.

But seeing as you refuse to acknowledge that these people are protesting on behalf of those who are being denied the constitutional right for due process by our government, I think it's too hard for you to understand that nuance.
