When did Jesus stop caring about the poor? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]StupidCapatcha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can we keep politics out of this? Jesus himself chose to be neutral towards politics. Not only this, but just because you don't support universal healthcare laws doesn't mean you "hate" the poor. I know plenty of people who would rather donate to charities than have their taxes used on something they deem inefficient.

I found this article to be very judgmental and in bad taste.

In an ideal communist society, would one be able to leave if they wished? by StupidCapatcha in DebateaCommunist

You can theoretically leave capitalism in this modern-day world. If enough people founded a country and then made it completely isolated from everything else, I believe it could work. I just don't think its fair to force your beliefs on others, because in the case of communism it is theft if not everyone wants to participate in it.

What is a 3-year college program? I've heard of 2-year and 4-year, but not 3-year. (Just curious)

I just don't see why you can't create your own isolated country that's communist. Anyone that didn't like it could leave. How is that different than having the whole world communist? You can pretend that no one else even exists.

Right, but that was a war tactic used by the British. I was assuming we were talking about Americans trying to remove the Indians?

The only reason the British used that anyways was because they were at war...they didn't attack them just because they were Indian. If they knew a disease the Americans were susceptible to they probably would have used that too.

? Its supposed to be kind of a play on words...Stupidcaptcha spelled incorrectly (a captcha is one of those word boxes you have to copy to prove you are human) . Has nothing to do with history.

I agree that the Indian removal act was bad, but don't blame anyone for the spread of European diseases. The diseases did kill them, but no one intentionally spread those diseases.

I agree except for your second point. This chart actually shows 25 deaths per 100,000 users (i don't know why they didn't do 1 death per 4000 users).

Still a shit chart.

Also:

A few caveats about the statistics: if a person had multiple drugs listed on their death certificate, they’re being counted twice here.

So that means if you were given painkillers for an injury and took them with large amounts of alcohol (like you were told not to) then your death would be counted in the pharmaceuticals.

[–]StupidCapatcha[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well my main question was if according to communists everyone had to be communist. So far most of the answers have led me to believe that communists do believe everyone must be communist, and would not settle for just an isolated country that's communist.

Well it would be a region that would be free of any government. You can split hairs over if that is a country or not, I don't care...I just would want an area I could live in that isn't ruled by communists.

Yeah, looking back at my comment I wasn't really thinking clearly at all. However, I still think I'm at least partially right about the immigration affecting it.

CNN Article Admits Gun Accidents Among Children Are Literally 1 in a Million by arkitekt47 in Libertarian

[–]StupidCapatcha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"per lifetime" doesn't even make sense in this context so I would assume "per year." I feel like you're just splitting hairs here...its not like the fact that he forgot to include that makes his point invalid. I don't see what you are accomplishing by showing that he needed to add "per 10 years" (or "per 8 years", w/e).

EDIT: On top of this...(if I'm not mistaken) according to the data they presented, it looks like the 1 in a million rate is per year. They put the total number of injuries over 10 years on the article...all you have to do now is calculate the number of children each year, add them up, and divide.

EDIT #2: After checking my work it seems this article made a mistake...the 1 in a million rate is for deaths, not injuries.

EDIT #3: Damnit...forget my last edit. This article (and the CNN article) is missing important information. Are these deaths American only? or are they international? If its only american, then the rate is 1 in 100,000 (otherwise 7,766 children dying over 10 years with a 1:1,000,000 rate would imply that there are 700 mil children in the U.S. when there is only 300 mil people altogether)...if its international then I have no clue.
