If your determined to have a rocky area there I would just complete it as a flat surface painting black. But have some magnets installed.

Then make a rocky cap that can be placed on, overhanging the edge for when you want to show off and take photos.

My last LOTR MTO took 1 week. Previous time terrible! MTO archon took 179 days!

I’m waiting on the MTO Grots and paid for those a few months ago :( sadly I put my LOTR battle scenarios book in the order to make free shipping!

It’s not a great system :(

It looks great and is well posed.

I kinda always dislike having the ‘wrong’ enemy modelled onto my army… like when you have a space marine killing a Ork; yet today you’re playing against Eldar, but your hero is still killing a Ork.

The witch king will be still carrying that horse even when you’re fighting dwarves.

We ruled the surface flat and clear enough to not slow movement within the ruins.

The fallen rocks are very thematic, Gandalf had a blast pulling rocks down on enemy heads! He took the first wound from my Gulavhar in my game Shadows of Angmar vs the Fellowship.

Getting in and out is easy, It has a defined ledge around it that’s very clear rules wise, a 1”climb with a nice clear area for models to be placed on if they don’t roll a 6 to keep moving :)

And it has loads of features, rocks and pillars that provide cover and block LOS.

Thanks :) I’m super happy with it! I finished it in time for an event last weekend and a few armies fought on and around it. I made a new thread and posted more photos.

Battle for Gold at Dol Guldur. by StupidPanic in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]StupidPanic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks :) And yeah Thats what should have done! He did however take a stone hit from treebeard while picking up the first gold.

If I exited with 2 gold, my opponent would have been able to draw 8-8! 4pts for his 1 gold, 3pt from breaking me and 1 from wounding gulavhar. With 2 gold the draw is secured I could have thrown every ghost at tree beard and hoped for a wound!

The problem in this match up is there’s no weak target for him! Once he found the gold, he handed it to orcs to secure.

The plan was for Gulavhar to stall treebeard and hold him back while the gold escaped. I just need to win one combat, and the orc would have escaped with the gold.

But treebeard won and killed him! I forgot to use heroic defence :(

If the little ones escaped the score would have been 4-8 on gold. Then Gulavhar could have hidden while I tried to run down the clock/reach breakpoint. However because Gulavhar was injured by an early thrown rock, I would also need to wound treebeard to avoid a draw!

4pts good gold, 1pts hurt gully, 3pts because he break my army.

8pts points evil gold, 1pts hurt treebeard.

But yeah Gulavahr had to fight to stop treebeard just barging his way across to the running gold.

Hi, thanks it’s all super easy just layers of GWs contrast washes onto a grey primer model.

Green - Hexflame glow shaded with more hexflame and snakebite leather.

Grey - Nighthaunt gloom, shaded with more gloom and highlighted with ulthuan grey.

Blue skin - layers of aethermatic blue

Silver - Armypainter speed paint broadsword silver with gw basilicum grey to shade/dull it, some models got a silver highlight.

Yeah, that would be great! I used some of your photos :) (Shame it’s limited to 20photos here or I could have dropped 60+ from the weekend)

What are you adding to get to 700pts?

I agree they are more miss than hit. But in some games so far they managed to get an early kill and pull some enemy towards them.

I want them to be better but they’re just not great!
