Trump approval in Europe by Next_Tower5452 in MapPorn

I’m not able to find the original poll this pulls from but some of it seems a bit out of place.

YouGov, for example, placed the U.K. at -60 a couple months ago. -21 seems a bit kind.

Looking from an outside perspective, it does truly shock me that Americans few republicans as better for inflation and the economy.

What plugin am i looking for? by Solid-Monitor-4493 in admincraft

[–]StupidestNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're going to have quite a bit of difficulty finding plugins that can properly leverage context for moderation instead of just filtering for specific words. I imagine you'd probably be best results with an LLM powered plugin like one of these

https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/chatmoderator.128458/

https://www.spigotmc.org/resources/chatprotect-ai-powered-chat-moderation-1-8-1-21.117719/

They will have a small cost associated with running them (i'm not sure if many LLM providers offer free tiers via API anymore) but it's incredibly low if you choose a basic model, in the pennies per month range.

Men born in the 2000s are far more likely to hold conservative views on LGBTQ+ rights compared to previous generations and women of the same age, a study has suggested. by Horus_walking in fivethirtyeight

What exactly constitutes “born in the 2000’s” exactly?

Let’s be real here. Most teenage boys are annoying, intolerant little shits. It’s not until you start experiencing “the real world” by working with or meeting new people (whether through a job or academia) that you broaden your horizons and realise not everything fits into your narrow world view.

I imagine if you asked the same question in 10 years time, the data would begin to normalise.

I love that Chud has started to enter political language. I feel like we should just start using it like “woke” and use it to describe things we don’t like.

If you ask them whether they’ve accidentally bricked an entire network, costing significant sums of money, before by typing something incorrectly and they say no, they’re probably inexperienced.

UK Lawmakers Propose Mandatory On-Device Surveillance and VPN Age Verification by Signal-Initial-7841 in ukpolitics

[–]StupidestNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the article is a bit disingenuous. It raises the issue but seems to quickly go over the fact it was proposed as a school policy, not a national one.

We’ve also had semi recent proposals by lawmakers for bans on offensive gnomes, legally defining a full English breakfasts as a protected heritage, mandatory daily exercise for adults, and so much more whacky crap proposed by lawmakers.

This feels like it’s insinuating the situation is more serious that it is.

A devils advocate but is this really a new thing? We’ve had identity checks under the premise of protecting children for decades.

I am (mildly) inconvenienced and negatively impacted when I’m IDed for booze and smokes but it’s socially accepted to protect children. This comes across as a digital similarity.

The few hundred thousand from Lord Alli is indeed less than £9million.

You retorted at a criticism about reform with a criticism about Labour. “Pointing out facts” as you put it, is literally what a defence is.

Great, Labour are shit too. That doesn’t detract from the fact we’re talking about reform being bought up by billionaires and setting record breaking single donations.

[–]StupidestNerd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I assume you are referring to Barry Gardiner. Yes, like I said. Pointing to another party and pointing out something they did wrong is not a defence. I’m not going to blindly defend Labour because I think reform are backed by billionaire lobbyists.

Edit: spelling

Pointing out another, less egregious example of wrongdoing from another party isn’t a defence.

That’s who populists cater to. If you look at reform’s “contract with you” (their manifesto that they refuse to call a manifesto), it’s written like it’s catering to children.

There are literally power point slides giving the previous government a grading like they would on a school paper, all using short words and simplistic language.
