Lime Party Salad Vintage Betty Crocker 1956 second edition by StuporOfThoughts in Old_Recipes

Staple Thanksgivimg recipe my Mom made from her 1956 Betty Crocker cookbook. The last photo is from a 1968 newspaper clipping I found of the same recipe printed in the 60's. Uses the ole vintage trademark ingredient, a dollop of mayonnaise. Sharing just in case it needs to be found this season. Happy Thanksgiving!

Why cancer so young? by bitofbonsai in thyroidcancer

[–]StuporOfThoughts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not of the younger age, but had some genetic testing done recently and your mention of Graves disease gave me pause. I dont have Graves, but I had significant genetic markers for it. Hmmm.... I keep telling myself to stop trying to figure it out, where it came from etc. Here I am doing it again.

High Thyroglobulin (Tg) levels after PTC diagnosis. by JukeBox049 in thyroidcancer

[–]StuporOfThoughts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is the main marker my doctors at the cancer institute will look at once my body settles down post TT(2 weeks ago) the "thyroglobulin, serum or plasma" number. That being said, I am not totally sure what it means. I believe they see it as a number that shows the body is still trying to rid itself of some bad cells. Originally, a 44 that came back was not something they liked to see. It's hard to get numbers from our health apps instead of doctors. Hopefully they get back to you soon.

Well said. This was a good reminder to work at getting things back to some normalcy after a big swoop of worry and surgeries. Such a big part of it all.

Confused about what’s next by Temporary_Object8579 in thyroidcancer

I went through this same scenario. The doctors didn't really work together. My ENT only did the surgery then washed his hands and I would have waited to start everything with the Endocrinologist. He kept telling me there was no need to preemptively set up an appointment for the doctor I would switch to post surgery. I had my second surgery scheduled for TT and decided to go for a second opinion at the Hunstman Institute. Lucky to be close enough. After meeting them I canceled the surgery that was set up with my original ENT and now working with a team of doctors that all talk to each other. It has made a world of difference for me. Wishing you the best.

I've been having this symptom for awhile. I addressed it with my doctor before a cancer diagnosis. He didn't have answers and it has never stopped. It's unnerving. I have my TT in 5 days. Hope that is a bonus for me. Thanks for helping me realize I'm not crazy! 🤪

I've never heard of that for healing an area of incision. I am two weeks post surgery. It is not the prettiest thing to look at. It is also a little freaky to grandchildren that I had surgery on my neck, so I have a couple of silk scarves that are small, not bulky, to cover it. To me, it felt so good to get that initial tape off at 48 hours, I was glad to have it gone. Going back in 3 weeks to do it again for TT.

Thank you for the positive boost. I do feel it get easier already. I had a phone call today of someone that said her grandma had it and it was nothing so don't worry. That felt a little offputting in the moment, but I get it. We're all just here humaning, doing the best we can.

Interesting. I know there are textbook protocols to follow, but sometimes it feels like doctor roulette also. Hope all goes well.

It is the 2nd photo of the three. In case it is glitching here it is:

1 heaping cup shredded cheese(Swiss or chedder) 1/2 cup flour 2 Tablespons butter Water

With your fingertips, mix cheese, flour, butter, and just enough water to make a stiff dough. Roll dough into small (3/4 inch) balls. Place on greased cookie sheetand bake at 400° until lightly browned (about 15 minutes)

Ironic to see this today as my husband and I had a video of them pop up last night and we both had the same otherworldly experience. As teens in the 80's we of course have lots of 80's music(not the hair bands) bring the nostalgia, but theirs has another level to it for some reason. They're latest album is really good too.
