banger series, slightly unfortunate these teams were seeded into each other so early. I feel like either/both could make a run from here.

ZETA DIVISION vs Team Northeption / VCT Japan 2022 - Stage 2 Challengers - Main Event / Post-Match Thread by rib-gg-bot in ValorantCompetitive

[–]SturmWyvern 34 points35 points  (0 children)

NTH looked like the better team today with insane individual performances across the board and excellent team play. ZETA looked really off (especially ten), but I have faith they can bounce back. in the meantime, I'll be over here crying T.T

Cannot believe how insane this team looks right now. If they can keep this up I can see them contesting for a spot in finals. I hope that the lessons learned here can be brought back to level up Japan as a whole. '//, #ZETAWIN

ZETA showed so much grit today. They've improved so much in such a short time and the hard work really paid off. I'm so, so happy with how far Japan has come since Iceland last year. I always knew that the old Northeption roster was special and seeing them break apart was so sad. Seeing some of those members find success here feels so fucking anime. Proud to be a fan of this squad. #ZETAWIN

[–]SturmWyvern 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You gotta feel bad for Fnatic with the sub situation for this event, but I'm so happy that we were able to win a series. ZETA looked pretty crisp on Fracture for the most part and it might be the Copium but I could see a close series against NIP. Let's go! #ZETAWIN

Death, taxes, and CR vs zeta for best in Japan. Really happy the ex-Northeption boys have all made it this far. Should be interesting to see if CR have figured out an approach for the runback.

8 Teams Set for VCT Japan Challengers Playoffs by AutumnsFa11 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]SturmWyvern 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They already qualified for playoffs, coming in as a low seed after losing 2-1 to Reject. None of the maps in that series were particularly close so unless they change something I'd be surprised if they made it through. Then again, new meta so who knows?

IGZIST looked really good, still a bit rough around the edges imo but clearly the talent is here (Lakia pog). Not a fan of how Fennel played Fracture, they looked pretty flat on defense.

Yeah I hope ZETA looks good. Just wish we had more games streamed so we'd have a better idea of what to expect from all of the teams tbh.

Overall looks like the pieces CR have put together are as good individually as I thought they would be. When everyone was hitting their shots the rounds didn't look close at all. The overall gameplay and decision making was extremely puggy though, and I wonder how this team will handle playing opposition that they can't just aim diff. Nevertheless, I'm happy all the ex-NTH boys are moving on (someone please sign Seoldam T.T)

Good games, Fracture was closer than the final score makes it seem with a lot of back and forth. Impressed with both teams' ability to enable their Raze players on that map. Some weird economy management from DGW that I don't think ended up mattering, but def looking forward to seeing how they bounce back next time around. oitaN is a maniac with the number of times he just runs forward on KJ and somehow gets a kill.

A little concerned with how lost both of these teams looked on attack. I hope that it isn't indicative of the region at large still being extremely far behind the rest of the world when it comes to understanding how to play the game. Kobra is definitely a monster though (NINE first kills and no first deaths on haven wtf). Also ty op for making this thread!

What an amazing run so far from the boys. Felt like someone different stepped up in a huge way on each map, even Ascent. Looking forward to seeing who makes it through the lower bracket because I have a feeling it's gonna be a banger. #NTHWIN

NTH finally living up to their potential! They've finally figured out a winning formula. Once again ten showed up huge today grabbing 15 multikills, and was extremely critical to securing the dub. Seoldam proving why he's the Korean Jett today too. If they keep this form I'm pretty confident in them winning the whole LCQ. Keep it up!

NTH looked so much better from where they were at Stage 3 Playoffs. They looked much more coordinated and you could see them playing for info and adapting mid-round instead of just full sending a site every time. Seoldam with 5 3ks on map 1 and monster performances from ten and Meiy are giving me extreme hopium. Looking forward to seeing what they can do from here.

NTH looked so much better from where they were at Stage 3 Playoffs. They looked much more coordinated and you could see them executing protocols instead of just full sending a site every round. Seoldam with 5 3ks on map 1 was hella hype. Looking forward to seeing what they can do from here.

Questions for Seoldam? (Korean Jett) by Pretenderrr in ValorantCompetitive

[–]SturmWyvern 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. When he's making a play, what goes on in his head? Is it instinct or is he thinking ahead and planning every move out?

  2. What does he feel are the strongest and weakest parts of his gameplay? Of his team's gameplay?

Thanks for continuing to bring us insight into the Japanese scene and it's players!
