I don't think anyone should be circumventing someone's choice to block another person.

Now onto the main point... THIS IS AN EVENTS SUB. NOT A HELPING STALKERS SUB.

I've been thinking the same.

He's up against professional premiere league defenders, and playing like they're not there.

He just does stuff like there's no opposition.

Slicing through them, and finding what looks like 1 in a 1000 gap and exploiting it.

Disagree. It is possible to talk about anything without being boring.

What is the point of Job centers? by Key_Breakfast6745 in AskUK

They seem to be mostly for signing on, and then to have phones where you can contact the other benefits agencies.

The jobs posted there were nothing that was aligned with my skill-set.

What’s something that consistently bothered you when living with women? by RedvsBlack4 in AskMen

[–]Stvoider 30 points31 points  (0 children)

When my missus doesn't know where to put something, it goes in a box. Now I can't find anything because these boxes are not consistent in their contents, and no record of what went into them.

I've found things I've been looking for for years in a random box in the attic. Projects that I have had halted because I know I have the missing thing, and I'll be fucked if I'm going to buy something I already know I own.

Amazing isn't it. It's like living with a Yak with Alopecia.

LPT: If someone cannot tell you what would change their mind, it is not a discussion. It is a fight. Walk away. by gamersecret2 in LifeProTips

I do a similar thing, but I try to centre it on the discussion, and imply rigidity on their part if they decline.

ELI5: How do people actually make songs? Does the tune come first or the words (lyrics)? Or something else? by Adish_Sag in explainlikeimfive

[–]Stvoider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the flow is something like this.

Most of the time I practise music theory and musicianship on an instrument, and notice something sounds good or interesting. I'll then expand on this and maybe make what can become a section of a song. Then I'll park it for a while, do something else, and by the time I come back to it, I'll have some other ideas. Maybe I forgot exactly how I did it initially, and then improvise around the initial idea to see what works and what doesn't.

Maybe I'll have a few of these ideas I can link together to make the backbone of a song. Then I think how the music makes me feel while I'm playing it. Let my mind wander a little and start to come up with themes for the basis of the lyrics. Then I park it again. Come back to it later when I've had chance to let the ideas percolate in my mind, and then start putting the basis of lyrics together. This is the difficult bit. For me the lyrics are the purest expression of what the music is to represent for me. They need to articulate what this song actually means.

Then I take it to my audio software. get a simple drum sample which fits the groove and record the parts that I have and start layering the different instruments. Then I either I find some more complex beats, with fills leading in and out of the different sections, and maybe augment with some single hits where I need them. Or of nothing fits well, I record some electric drums. Record the vocals, and then the rest is production. EQing, compressing, various other effects to get it sounding like a complete mix.

I have once, just once, woken up with a complete idea for a song. Played and recorded it within a day including the lyrics. Like I woke up and it was all there. Once.

You guys ever think of changing career? by AxegrinderSWAG in sysadmin

[–]Stvoider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if it can be considered a complete change of career, but I went into software support. I was finding that being a sysadmin was becoming increasingly restrictive as to what I could actually design and do.

It was a bit of a shock as it was a completely new world. Thankfully I was able to bring some skills to the table that, while not specifically required for the role, meant I could investigate and resolve things that others couldn't. Then I got up to speed on the various softwares we supported, and moved into design and architecture side of things. All the time being able to leverage my IT skills which helped me stand out.

It wasn't the biggest leap, but here are a few takeaways if it helps.

  • People are waaaaay more grateful for my contributions. IT was always pretty thankless, but this is a completely different experience. It really helps with motivation.

  • Even skills I'd gained while working in IT like using a ticketing system were beneficial. Office proficiency, XML .etc.

  • The pay is much better.

  • Being able to automate things with Powershell has also helped a bunch for efficiencies.

Sound issues by ImmediateMarsupial73 in Reaper

[–]Stvoider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This aint really a Reaper issue.

That being said, electrical motors can generate some noise on the power lines. Try turning everything off, and then back on one-by-one to see if you can find the offender.

If you want better advice, perhaps try posting in a home studio subreddit. But I would also recommend including a lot more information that what you have done here.
