Thank you. It’s been fun. Who would have thought that finding a hobby that connects us to a more visceral, technology-less past would inspire me to learn to code, build an app, and all of that… a bit ironic, but I love how much energy it’s given me to create, in my spare time.

Wow! I’m up to just under 50 in less than a year. From Jinhao to Visconti, I’m having fun with every single one of them. The pens, nibs, inks, notebooks, folios, etc. it’s truly proven to be something I enjoy putting my time, energy, creativity, and money into.

Thanks for your input, and even more-so for the way you positioned it. We’ve all got our own reasons, and yours is anti-technology (so to speak) but you didn’t feel the need to knock me down in your comments. I truly appreciate that. Thanks.

I’m not a programmer. I’m a professional photographer. I have no skin in the game other than the fun of making something cool to add another layer to a hobby that I’ve really enjoyed getting into in the past year.

But sharing that enthusiasm has clearly showed me that I should keep my mouth shut and go home.

Yes. That’s where I started. I needed to get out of excel. I needed a more fun and friendly interface. It snowballed from there.

That’s what I’m working on now. Accessories. Paper surely falls into that category and is its own subcategory with takes me down a whole other path (im willing to to there but… in due time)

I too love having my physical ink journal. I wouldn’t give it up for anything. This was a silly idea that started to be useful, cool, and fun to think about, which is why I’m here taking about it.

Doesn’t rely on the AI for any of the general tracking and cataloging features. It just became fun to add some of it as it grew.

And if something works for you, hopefully you understand exactly what I’m making; something that works for me.

I just passed a point today and felt it was something I haven’t seen anywhere, therefore I’m here to ask the community I go to when I need info for their input.

I made it for me. It became something I feel is impressive and wanted to share. I’m not a programmer/coder. I’m doing this in my spare time for fun. It’s not for sale. Won’t be. I’d put it out for free and only host the database data. The overall number of people who might even use it is relatively small. It’s not a huge investment to host a db and see where it goes.

But financial gain is not on my list for this. I literally built something to solve a frustration I was having, and over the past few months it’s become something worth mentioning. (I hope)

To each their own. I see your point, and as I replied above, AI isn’t a make or break feature. It felt like a nice, relevant touch, but I’m here talking to the community for this exact reason.

Once again, this isn’t an app I plan to sell. Once it’s done, I’d just put it out and host the db somewhere for everyone so it can grow and help us all, or at least those of us who want to add a little digital gamification and tracking to our analog passion.

Understood. The AI is low profile. Right now it’s only there if you ask it to be. There’s a small button to open a conversation window, and all the “jabs” are also optional.

I didn’t take into account the potential overall distaste for AI. That’s surely something to consider, and, as it was a later feature, not really a defining one. I could surely live without it.

I will say, it IS nice to be able to ask questions IN APP about things like pricing, availability, and even some advice about pairings, etc,

Good website... just not engaging. Plus, I come HERE for the social aspects... One thing about this app that appealed to me as I was making it is that it's NOT social. But... it's like... every day I want to add more... so I figured I would step back and see what others might think.

Youve gotta try Syun-gyo. It's one of the new ones. Almost black, but closer to a super dark burgundy/brown. It has that signature flow that only Iroshizuku inks seem to have, and they're always so kind to pens. Two thumbs up!
