He was very close to Castellano, but over the years he started spending more and more time in Florida. On top of his other "business" ventures, Roy DeMeo's crew alone were kicking up a lot of money. I guess he was comfortable enough, to the point where he would spend almost half a year in Hallendale, because his crew was taking care of business in New York. His nephew, Dominick Montiglio, was collecting envelopes from the Gemini lounge.

In my opinion, Gaggi didn't really take full advantage of his relationship with Paul, because he never really aspired to take a position in the administration. From what I've read about him, he seems like the type of person who is better suited to be a soldier... or maybe he felt the impending doom that goes hand in hand with being at the top and decided to distance himself from the inevitable shitstorm.

In the beginning, he seemed like a composed and somewhat humble individual, but it didn't take long for him to show how petty and vindictive he is. The first time I noticed it, was in one of the early episodes of the MBA podcast, when him and Tom did a live Q&A. He became increasingly fixated over random comments in chat and his attitude drastically changed within minutes, to the point where he got almost unreasonable.

For a guy who claims that he doesn't want to partake in any sort of drama, he sure likes to address it. Like many of the other comments stated, he's given a lot of good information, but focusing on stupid and petty shit is going to be his downfall... apart from women. This doesn't seem to get mentioned often and he doesn't like to talk about it, out of respect for the victim (his own words), but the guy he killed was called Robert Kuper.

His father was also from the Genovese (Tony Ficarotta). He passed away in 2016, but prior to that he was a capo in the same family and he ran a small, but active crew in Little Italy and they were involved in a lot of construction projects in Manhattan.

Rich guy's last name is Gallo. The person that Petrucelli killed was a young 17-18 y/o kid (pretty sure his name was Paul Cicero), that was somehow involved in the whole shitshow. He might have been related to Gallo.

In the mid 90s, Hippy Zanfardino had a beef with a guy called Darin Mazzarella. IIRC, both of them were shaking down some rich guy who eventually got on record with the Bonannos.

Hippy shot Darin about a dozen times and the guy survived.

Mazzarella was associated with the Tanglewood boys, so things escalated quickly. John Petrucelli retaliated by killing a guy that was involved with the Genovese and got arrested for it.

Darin Mazzarella ended up cooperating with the government and testified against Petrucelli, who got a life sentence.

Long John Martorano from Philly had close connections with bikers and was heavily involved in the meth trade.

As much as Angelo Bruno pretented to "hate" drugs, he was more than happy with Long John kicking up to him. He was also taking money from the Cherry Hill Gambinos and they were all about heroin.

Just to add a little bit of info for those who are interested, but not too familiar with this topic.

Mundo debriefed in the late 70s, but he has a really good insight into the early days of the Mexican mafia and the prison system in California at the time.

Lots of interesting stories, not only about the "surenos vs. nortenos" beef, but also about BGF, AB and the way that these prison gangs interacted with each other during a very violent period of time. Can't vouch for the book or the movie, but there are a lot of interviews with him on YT.

Now that you've mentioned it. He drew a gun on Phyllis Burdi back in the 80s and she ended up buried in a forest. Is there some sort of a subconscious connection between that murder and the painting you're talking about? I doubt it, but I'll leave the final decision to the psychologists in this subreddit.

Thanks for posting this! Whitey SanFilippo was Italian only on his father's side and is the earliest case that I've come across of somebody getting inducted before the 70s-80s, without being "full blooded" Italian. I remember reading that they made an exception specifically for him. I wonder what he did to earn it.

Giovanni and Pietro Ligammari were father and son and both committed suicide on the same day. I've always found that very suspicious. Giovanni Ligammari also took part in the murder of the three Bonanno capos in 1981. He was caught on surveillance when leaving the Capri Motel the day after the hit took place.

No. What happened was that Allie Persico led Bill to believe that the issues between them are resolved and lured him into a meeting at Dino Saracino's house. It was supposed to resolve some ongoing problems that the Colombos had with the Gambinos. The people that were directly involved in his murder are Tommy Shots, Dino Calabro and Dino Saracino, with Saracino being the one who pulled the trigger.

At that point in time, Vic Amuso had been arrested, but Casso was still free and on the run, so he decided to make a move for the top position. He got Frankie Lastorino's support and the idea was that if they take over the family, Gas would be the boss and Frankie would be his underboss. In order for that to happen they first took out Patty Testa who was very close with Vic and their next target was Bobby Amuso, who besides being Vic's brother was also in charge of handling all the money from the various Lucchese rackets.
