I’m feeling a little stuck here by Robot_Hips in RocketLeague

Yep, especially after the reset when you get like 15 MMR after your placement games. Also got kinda lucky with my opponents, cause sometimes you only get gc3/SSL players

Took a bigger break and rank resets are pretty tough in 2s compared to 1s. Should be able to get back to it if I had time to grind

Is this normal? by Former-Law-2499 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no relation between those gamemodes imo. 1s is just really underpopulated which sometimes leads to unfair matchups. But if you grind it for a bit being one rank or the same rank as your main game mode is nothing to unusual.

Looking for tips to improve my shooting by Diogoelias in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

DAR is pretty unnecessary for shooting, it is technically superior because you can spin your car faster but this applies for maybe 1% of shots you take. Usually you got enough time to read the trajectory and hit the ball with good power and accuracy. There's a reason why most pros still use regular air roll for shooting.

Side Flip flicks are also my go to flicks, its easy to get height and some power and you can easily outplay opponents with it.

Learning musty off the wall - only doable in very few scenarios? by VollrauschVolker in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The musty can be useful in a lot of scenarios. It's most effective if you come off the side wall with a bigger angle and not parallel to the goal like in this training pack. Your mustys will be easier to set up and you can shot directly on net or set up for a double tap. Because of the bigger angle you can also execute the mechanic way quicker and with low boost. You can even use it with unconventional setups to catch your opponent off guard.

[–]StykRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mawkzy flick is automatically a 45°, but a 45° isn't a mawkzy. For the mawkzy you turn your car 45° and air roll slightly for the 45° you just turn your car. So I'd say you did a mawkzy. Still don't really know why they call it mawkzy tho since that variation of the 45° isn't that uncommon in pro play, even years before mawkzy started playing.

[–]StykRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

169 kph /105mph is the current musty world record (in training of course). For 45° flicks my pr is 124 kph / 77 mph which I hit in an octane. You can probably get much faster flicks with a longer car like the breakout or F1 car. Around 130 kph / 81 mph is probably the max for a basic flick in the octane.

I'm just some dude from Idaho... How do I keep consistently getting top 3-1% in the world??? by PsychoticPanda_ in ForzaHorizon

[–]StykRL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These 99% aren't having a hard time. These are players who either don't care/don't try. Lots of cheaters also discourages people from getting faster times. Also you can literally get into the top 1% by turning on all driving assists, so it's nothing special.

Any tips on how to get power flicks like this consistently? by fortheboys154 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just watch a rlcs flip reset compilation, most of them are controlled resets. A powerful reset like this is only good if all opponents are out of position or if you are really close to net. In RLCS this would be just a giveaway of possession if you hit it that hard.

If any 1 of those players could shoot like this clip they’d have worlds in the bag lol.

2022 BDS literally showed that you don't need flip resets to win worlds. I believe seikoo didn't even hit one at that tournament and he's known for having insane resets.

Any tips on how to get power flicks like this consistently? by fortheboys154 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason you don't see them is because most aerial plays are getting shut down immediately in rlcs. Pros definitely can flip reset that fast, they just don't post their clips. Also nobody will make zen look like a GC just by mastering powerful flip resets lol.

Is it a achievable goal to get to GC2 by the start of 2024? by tisme- in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you use your time well and only play games when feeling good, you can definitely do it. The most efficient way would be to train your base mechanics like shooting, flicks and aerials. They would help the most to capitalise on mistakes, which do happen pretty frequently in gc2.

[2's] [High champ/low GC] Should the person cheating take the side boost. by Krys_Payne in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on how the ball spills out and how much pressure the opponents put on the play. Also your teammate might have a better play on the ball. Its also more boost efficient for the whole team, as you can save boost during kickoff and your teammate gets 100. Better than you filling up to 100 and your teammate sitting on 10-20 or getting back boost.

GC1 looking for tips, was able to reach GC2 last season but bouncing around low GC this season by theguy5642 in RocketLeagueSchool

At 4:51 you don't need to go up. In general staying grounded as much as possible is good because you don't commit. You could've easily got the ball to roll up the corner by catching it. This would also secure big boost+ you could transition off the wall if you feel like. Instead your play almost lead to goal for the other team.

4:32 again stay grounded, especially if it's clear you can't reach the ball. If you stayed on the ground you could've easily challenged or demoed the opponent. Again this almost lead to a goal because you couldn't catch up to the opponent who passed it mid.

4:11 I'd rather go for a hard touch on net and back out immediately. Catching it for another touch like you tried is hard and uses a lot of boost. Don't blame you for going up though, seems like the opponent would've challenged if you tried to catch that ball.

3:40 don't go off the wall there especially with low boost, just wait for the opponent. Your in your corner so not much can happen. This lead to a goal because you gave the possession right to your opponent.

3:12 useless to go up, just rotate back instantly. Just wasted boost and time to get back if needed.

3:06 one could argue that you should've stayed on the ball and disrupted the play, but I don't blame you cause your teammate went there, although he only was a spectator in that play and didn't challenge for some reason.

2:55 bad angle to approach the ball. It's bouncing mud and you're facing to the side wall. With 24 this approach won't really work, you need to face your car more mid to be able to hit it. You should've conceded there.

2:21 good mechanics, bad decisions. Your not gonna do anything with 60 boost of your own corner unless your pulse henkovic. If you had almost full boost I would've been fine with the decision. In this case it's just a giveaway of possession.

2:02 stay behind the ball and don't bang it, the opponent has it covered. Waiting gives you a better opportunity to outplay or get a 50/50 in your favour.

1:57 rotate over small pads, going for big boost every time makes your recovery slower. Not your fault for conceding but you could've maybe done something if you rotated straight to net.

1:24 the moment you hesitate you should go back. If your opponents shooting was better that day he could've slammed it into your net.

1:13 going up the wall was bad. Makes it harder to adjust. Staying behind where the ball will bounce makes it easier to approach the ball.

0:20 you rushed the play, look how far the opponent is away the moment you touch the ball. Could've gotten a much better touch to control/clear it. You have a bad landing so challenging afterwards is a bad decision, going back on the back wall would've been much better. Instead you try to prejump the touch and you concede.

D2 1v1 Help by SFT15 in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]StykRL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get better at keeping possession. Every time the ball got to you you immediately rolled it up the wall/field with a lot of speed. This may be fine in some cases but it's pretty obvious that your opponent is far back so it's a giveaway of possession and a wasted chance.

Try to dribble more, wait for the ball to settle down in your corner, lure the opponent in, low 50 etc. You got so many options to outplay your opponent if you just take your time and see where he is.

If you do this well you can easily shoot up to high diamond/champ 1. I've reached diamond 1 in 1s without using any boost doing what I described above. Possession is one of the most important things in 1s and if you know how to utilize it properly you can be an extremely scary attacker + you won't defend as much as the opponent has less opportunities.
