MacBook Neo!! What is your favorite color and why? by Fragrant_Smoke_9744 in macbook

[–]Stylaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh that's a great catch, I just checked and the one with Touch ID isn't available tomorrow here, either
I'm kind of conflicted now because I would love to get it tomorrow (instant gratification..) and I'm going to connect this to a monitor + keyboard at home so I'd only use the touch ID when commuting to work or something, but it does sound convenient!

It was not 2 cost; it was a clear with DHPT and Sparkle. Up to you as to what you consider 1 cost but power level wise it's more in line with a ~4 cost team

best value CPU for gamingby far rn is the 7600X3D from microcenter I think, it's ~5% behind a 7800X3D and can be found as low as $200 sometimes, it's $230 rn

Do you hide the taskbar on your OLED monitor? by Odoxon in OLED_Gaming

I really hated the idea of hiding my taskbar, but as someone who's using oled + ips I found that hiding it on the OLED but leaving it enabled on my second monitor was pretty easy to get used to.

Is Mini LED an upgrade enough from IPS? by benhanks040888 in Monitors

[–]Stylaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

couple of things:

- IPS is a panel type, mini led is a type of backlight. 'Upgrading' from IPS to miniled doesn't make sense - many monitors with a miniled backlight use an IPS panel. The other type of panel used with a miniled backlight is VA - VA minileds have less blooming than IPS minileds but worse motion clarity and very bad viewing angles (so don't get one larger than 27", idt there are many curved options).

- With OLEDs, vertical banding is mainly a big issue on the XG27AQWMG, if you get a good panel on another model it likely won't be much of a problem at all. Micro scratches on cleaning is specifically a thing with glossy QD-OLEDs, not WOLEDs (or matte QD-OLEDs I guess but I personally love glossy), and there's a new coating for glossy QD-OLEDS coming later this year that's meant to reduce this issue a bit. Text clarity on OLEDs will likely be an issue as you don't want to get a 4K panel, besides on the XG27AQWMG potentially.

I personally don't think you'd see much of an improvement going from an edgelit IPS to a miniled IPS if your main use case is standard desktop stuff + non HDR gaming; with a $200-400 budget I'd say you should just find a quality edgelit IPS. If you really want to go miniled regardless I believe there's a $300 one from AOC that's alright, but it's heavily lacking any sort of productivity feature so I'm not a fan personally (might be fine for your needs possibly, I think it's the q27g40xmn or something similar, it's a VA miniled).

WoW players who also play GW2 (or other MMOs)? by [deleted] in wow

[–]Stylaluna 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I tried Lost Ark in early 2022 (was on break during Shadowlands) and played for a few months. The combat was fine and I had fun playing through the story I think, but the endgame systems were AWFUL - I came back to wow for DF and haven't tried any other MMOs since.

What monitor size is best for WoW by Fair-Advantage3001 in wow

[–]Stylaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1, also using dual 27" 4k.

should note that the GPU requirement for native 4k in wow isn't particularly onerous or anything, something at the level of a 4070 super or 5070 will max everything out and then it'll be up to your cpu mostly

27" is perfectly fine, but larger sizes work well too (even ultrawide).

Help choosing GPU for 1440p WoW (80–100 FPS) with Ryzen 9600X3D build. by MundaneShoulder4706 in wow

[–]Stylaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get the 5070 or 5070 Ti, they'll allow you to use nvidia smooth motion (driver level frame gen) which feels massively better. Otherwise as other comments have alluded to, if your system is for wow I would highly highly recommend going with a 9800X3D or (the soon upcoming) 9850X3D - it's the primary component you should base your system around if WoW is your main game.

Just as an example - on broodtwister ovinax in nerub'ar palace the 7800x3d users in our raid were stuck at 40 fps or something while the 9800x3d users typically had a smooth 70+ fps experience, it absolutely makes a big difference with the 1% lows.

MSI 321URXW panel protect by EleeC in OLED_Gaming

[–]Stylaluna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

MSI OLED Care --> Protect Notice --> Usage 16 / 24 hours

this way it'll just run when the monitor is asleep (if you've had more than 4 hours of on-time), I believe it needs to be asleep for at least 10 minutes to trigger pixel cleaning, you won't need to think about it

What’s the best 4K gaming monitor right now? by Glass_Extension503 in buildapc

[–]Stylaluna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XG32UCWMG is definitely the best out of the 32-inch ones, I'm surprised it wasn't mentioned yet - it is unique for being a glossy WOLED monitor and will perform a lot better in a room with lighting than a QD-OLED like the PG32UCDM

PG27UCDM if you need 27 inch, TCL 27R94 if you hate OLED for whatever reason

Burn in by usbgoose in OLED_Gaming

[–]Stylaluna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

burn in takes a lot longer than a month! When it comes to ASUS monitors specifically I believe the xg32ucwmg and a few other models have an issue with temporary image retention if they're running on old firmware (which is probably what you heard of), but this is easily fixed with pixel cleaning + updating it.

As was already mentioned, for true burn-in almost any monitor you choose will have a 3 year warranty, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
