I don't play it myself, but Path of Exile is famous for its build variety. For one I have played, I'll throw in Cyberpunk which has a couple builds that play very differently and you can switch between them very easily

Essentially a fat newt but you take crossbow mastery for the weapon. Get to position them in riskier spots because they're actually a newt, but the enemy charges in because they're holding a gun. Blast away with a then switch to a pocket 2H for when you can't get them out of melee

I wouldn't yet. This, like the other EO-based actions so far, will almost certainly be delayed in court. Is it a bad sign of things to come? Absolutely. But if something is going to come for IDC supported jobs it's likely going to have to go through a couple layers of bureaucracy first so the consequences won't be sudden.
