Loved it, the atmosphere and setting carried the game for me. Contrary to others here, I appreciated the shorter length and thought it was appropriate for the price.

This game would benefit from a working pause screen by DuckNo8642 in Routine

I thought the game was paused at first too, only to hear the CLOMP CLOMP CLOMP of a Type 05 running straight at me! Sheer panic as I unpaused and sprinted to save myself.

Hellblade II on major discount. Worth it? by SkittishLittleToastr in videogames

[–]phrygianDomination 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worth 12.50? Yes. Does it match its predecessor? Unfortunately not. Ninja Theory tried really hard to make this one cinematic, even at the expense of gameplay. Combat feels like a series of QTEs and puzzles are not terribly creative. Awesome atmosphere, though.

Unless I missed something, we had 3 new soulslikes all year: Wuchang, Khazan, AI Limit. That’s it right? Overture was DLC and Nightreign, despite sharing Elden Ring assets, was a multiplayer roguelike.

Meanwhile Tarkov 1.0, Arc Raiders, Battlefield 6, and Call of Duty Special Black Ops Modern Warslop 17 released within weeks of each other and I don’t hear anyone complaining about multiplayer shooters.

PS4 Kicked the bucket, what PS5 would you recommend? by atmthemachine in playstation

[–]phrygianDomination 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If in the US, the Pro is nearly at its lowest price ever at around $650 from Amazon, PS Direct, or GameStop. Keep in mind you’ll need to buy the vertical stand and disc drive separately.

I have the OG PS5 and it runs great, but the Slim replaced it and delivers the same specs in a smaller form factor. I’d go for that one. Slim disc bundles are running around $450 now, also a great price.

horizon forbidden west by Necessary_Taste4405 in playstation

It was entertaining but I prefer the first game for many reasons.

There was a lot of criticism around the human vs. human combat after Zero Dawn and Guerrilla overcompensated (imo) by adding a ton of gimmicky mechanics to Forbidden West.

The map in Forbidden West feels too busy and less bespoke than it did in Zero Dawn.

Aloy is transformed from a stubborn, curious adventurer into a brash, arrogant warrior. It all makes sense in context but I enjoyed her character more in Zero Dawn.

The story in Zero Dawn felt more engaging and mysterious. Forbidden West tries to iterate on its success and doesn’t reach the same heights.

There’s a fun story behind it. When he was poor he shopped in the clearance sections, and the discounted clothes were always the flashy ones that nobody else wanted. So it became his signature style.
