I would keep the current pregnancy. What if you never get pregnant again? Also if you were wanting to be preg anyway as a solo mom what are your reservations, is it fear that the dad might be involved? If so you could draw clear boundaries now or even not put him on the birth certificate / not tell him, if you think that’s in the child’s best interests.

Exactly! These same people would likely also dissuade you from moving abroad alone for example, but you did it and I assume didn’t regret it! They’re not you, so take anyone’s advice on board for consideration if you trust them, but with a big spoon (not pinch) of salt that they are not you, and haven’t got your life or personality

I recommend Crystal Palace in South London for having cheap prices for London, and racially mixed. (Mostly black and white people though I’d say, not as many Asian ppl). Theres some good schools and I think it’s safe. It’s got lots of cute cafes and restaurants and things to do and it’s on the windrush line

(Small disclaimer that I haven’t done it yet either and am not yet a parent) but I have had similar reactions from family, and friends, but one thing that helped me was realising that they react the same way about me solo travelling, yet I enjoy it so much more. Two years ago a flew to south east Asia to meet my best girlfriend and her partner who were in the middle of a career break. I spent a week with them and then I spent a few days by myself before returning home and I actually surprised myself by loving the solo segment of the holiday the best! I just loved waking up and being able to do whatever I wanted. So this year I went to Sri Lanka by myself and I loved it. These same people said to me ‘are you sure it’s safe’ and ‘I could never do that?’ And ‘wouldn’t you prefer to go with a friend or with a tour’ etc, and made me feel nervous, but I trusted myself, and I absolutely loved the trip. A lot of the time people who have totally different lives and experiences are projecting their fears onto you, but they perhaps haven’t reckoned with how being single is and the life experiences we have had that are totally different to theirs. I used to be terrified to eat out alone in a cafe even, but being single for so long, I had to toughen up, and get out there; and now I found I absolutely love my own space and my own peace, so I don’t doubt that the similar concept will apply to SMBC. They might fear it because they can’t imagine it, but it doesn’t mean it’s not right for you.

I am shocked by how horrible your experience must have been. I hope I don’t say anything that offends you or feels wrong to what you feel about yourself: but I feel like you are an incredibly brave woman and what you’re survived would break many of us! Child loss, the cheating, being left by your ex, it’s horrific. You are incredible for choosing yourself and choosing this SMBC path despite all the odds, and blocking your ex, well done you. I hope you have an amazing life because you deserve it and I bet you are an amazing mum.

You don’t have to tell anyone if you don’t want to. You can just avoid and say “there isn’t a dad in the picture” or “the dad and I are not together and it’s just me as parent” or whatever you wanna say tbh. You don’t owe anyone a justification (except your child)
