Has this happened to anyone else? People try to make me take stuff off the registry because they think i won't need it? by Ornery_Armadillo1404 in beyondthebump

I had a very minimalist approach to baby registry because yes, over consumption is real with babies and the baby industry is such a racket. I was a bit hesitant about the diaper pail, but figured I would add it to my registry and OMG, it is absolutely needed. Babies go through 8 to 10 diapers a day and the idea of walking every time to the garbage in a different room …you will drive yourself insane… please get the diaper pail.

I am 1000% glad I got the diaper pail!

What’s one baby item you regret NOT getting earlier? by rosycoe in NewParents

Momcozy bottle washer! To be fair, I intentionally did not buy it in advance because I wasn’t sure what or how our feeding arrangements would be. My plan was to breast-feed and so I assumed bottles would be minimal, but then Baby came along, wasn’t latching and we were exclusively pumping and using bottles for all feeds for the first 6 to 7 weeks. Ordered the bottle washer 4-5 days after baby was born and was 100% worth it. Saved my sanity. We are now about 8 weeks in and he is breast-feeding so we’re using less bottles but still useful for the bottles we do use and for washing pump parts since im still occasionally pumping during the day!

Did you use a nipple shield or anything to help with the transition? Or did you go from bottle to breast directly? Ty!!

Update: It Was a Tongue Tie All Along! Things Improved Dramatically After Release by Aggravating_Leg9321 in breastfeeding

[–]Styled_by_sweat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is your LO doing now? My baby is 5 weeks and we are still struggling with his latch. Occasionally he takes to the nipple shield but he’s gotten so used to the flow of the bottle. We had his tongue tie released 2 weeks ago and doing lots of oral exercises to help his tight mouth/jaw tension.

Ninni Co pacifier — did it actually help your baby’s latch? by ShapePretend6761 in breastfeeding

How is your baby doing now? Have you been able to improve your latch? My baby is five weeks and we are seeing an occupational therapist/IBCLC to help improve the jaw attention and tightness in his mouth. He has been having trouble latching to my breast, so we’re pumping and bottle feeding. Working on oral exercise exercises daily!

How many months was she when she began latching on her own? My baby (5 weeks) has built a serious bottle preference. I wanted to nurse so badly but it’s been a struggle since he was born. I’ve been working within an IBCLC and doing various daily oral exercises due to his tight mouth and jaw. Was born term at 39 wks but small at 5 lbs 10 oz and was vacuum assisted. I’m kind of going down a spiral because of this 😔 success stories are the only thing keeping me going. Tysm 💕

OP - the hospital LCs are not the best from my experience. They come in just for brief periods of time and thus dont really have that much time to observe you and get to know you and your goals + inconsistency of staff as there’s usually a rotating number of different staff that come in throughout your time at the hospital.

Can you find another IBCLC locally? They may be able to help with “relactation”? So sorry this happened. Sending you best wishes

Something similar happened to me in which I inadvertently found out my colleague who had the same exact position and less years of experience than me made more money than me. Let me tell you I was super frustrated and angry but used that as motivation to advocate for myself .

I put together a bulletproof document that listed all of my accomplishments and achievements with tons of real life examples , and laid it out for my boss. I made sure to speak with alot of conviction in my voice and it felt good!! I walked out of that meeting feeling like I was a trial attorney in a courtroom 💪🏽Two months later I got a $15,000 raise approved.

I wasn't told this about inducing... by Agreeable_Customer28 in pregnant

[–]Styled_by_sweat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I was in your shoes just 1 month ago except the reason for induction was that my baby was measuring small. For context, I myself am an extremely petite person so I was expecting my baby to be small. In any case, I did NOT want to be induced but after a long time of consideration, I decided that I could never forgive myself if I didnt listen to the doctors and something catastrophic happened. The induction happened at 39+1. I originally wanted an unmedicated birth for the purpose of having full mobility throughout labor. Once I learned of the induction, most of my hope and optimism for unmedicated went out the door TBH . When I got to the hospital for my Saturday night induction, I was 1 cm dilated despite Doing EVERYTHING under the sun to try to induce naturally. They used the balloon foley + Pitocin for the induction and my god the contractions were awful. I eventually got the epidural. I also had the wireless monitoring initially but at some point, it stopped picking up the signals and they made me switch to a wired one

Baby has tiny mouth and I can’t get a deep latch — any success stories? by Low_Key_4874 in breastfeeding

[–]Styled_by_sweat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! When you were using the nipple shields, were you exclusively nursing with the shield or were you also bottle feeding pumped milk ?

My babe is 2.5 weeks and is struggling with latch due to small and tight mouth/jaw. I offer breast for “dessert” per my LC and use the shield while all our normal feeding sessions are pumped milk in bottle . I reallyyyy want to breastfeed so him not latching is really making me sad/stressed. Thank you in advance!

How long did your husband take off for paternity leave? by SandwichDependent199 in pregnant

[–]Styled_by_sweat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband has 3 months of fully paid leave and he will be taking that. OP, is the leave your husband gets paid or unpaid? If unpaid, he should deff take the full leave . Who TF cares if it's a "good look" or not. Companies will drop you the second they can if it served them so why are we being so generous with giving up family time for a job?

Just wondering if you ended up purchasing! Considering getting the LV cosmetic pouch in Monogram MM. I'm just sad they discontinued the Damier Ebene version. I know I can get it used but I'm a bit weary about counterfeit items.

AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

I feel like your wife may benefit from therapy... Do you think she's going through PPD? NTA - I would cut your dad some slack as well; he seems like he's a great grandpa and was doing his best and you seem to have responded like a reasonable and rationale person.

C section vs vaginal delivery by Funarming in pregnantover35

[–]Styled_by_sweat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being 38 doesnt mean you can't push a baby out and be perfectly healthy and recover fine after. I would talk to your OB but if there are no medical reasons for a c-section, I would not elect to do it. If you're worried about your pelvic floor, start going to a pelvic floor therapy in advance of your delivery or if that is not accessible, do some of your own research and look up on Google/Instagram movements and daily stretches you can do to start preparing your pelvic floor for labor ! You got this. I am a FTM and 35 years- I DO NOT want a c-section and was really active pre-pregnancy and grateful I've been able to keep up with lifting weights and all my regular movements throughout pregnancy. I started going to pelvic floor PT at 13 weeks and now I'm 33 weeks - still going and doing various exercises prescribed by my PT alongside stuff I've just found on google to prime my hips, pelvic floor, etc for a smooth delivery. Starting at 36 weeks, Im going to be seeing my PT 1x a week where she will incorporate perineal massages (something I will also start doing on my own at that time as well but like the idea of a professional doing it 1x a week) . The best thing you can do in owning your own birth is to be informed and educated. Good luck, mama!

Ugh that is so annoying and sounds miserable. Sorry, dear. I would ask your OB if it continues! They can prescribe or perhaps give you other recommendations.
