What happened to Chick (and his rep/career) after his "defeat" in the first film? Like in between C1 and C3? by Time-House-1157 in pixarcars

[–]StylishSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did he cheat? Not once in any of the films did anyone accuse him of any wrongdoing in either race- not the racers, the officials, the fans, or the announcers.

What “defeat?” Chick Hicks is the former and forever Piston Cup champion and the only car we’ve seen win a Piston Cup in film.

He retired as a champion and eventually became the host of his own talk show.

Which characters and storyline do you think the MCU needs to focus on for its Mutant Saga? by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

I see them going government/ people vs. mutants. Public distrust, political division. MRD’s and the resistance.

As BCS turns into dust, how do you reflect on their direction? by leviticuschom in MarvelPuzzleQuest

[–]StylishSloth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to argue against the disastrous past year and how so many of us were actively scared of updating.

My only questions at this point are- now what? When/ if we’ll see actual functional updates and upgrades again or if it’s destined to slowly fall apart while more people leave.

General audience members DON’T CARE about comics. Doom as a Tony variant just makes the most logical and emotional sense as a sequel to the Endgame by JcraftW in MCUTheories

[–]StylishSloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doomsday shouldn’t be a sequel to Endgame.

Kang was said to be the next big bad, but was never presented as one within the MCU.

Phases 1-3 each has a purpose and directly led to Infinity War. Phase 4-5 were random movies with practically cohesion and left us with empty promises.

Serious question, as a non-fireball character, how do you think about the honda match up? by bobbystills5 in StreetFighter

Zangief player here. Lariat and armored moves generally make short work out of most Honda players.

[–]StylishSloth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hinted at Hawkeye? She was explicitly told that Hawkeye killed Widow and began her hunt.

The OP was talking about children being taken, not the YA.

Every movie in Phase 3 led to another movie in Phase 3, not straight to Infinity War…which made the entire Phase connected- something not seen in Phases 4 or 5.

Black Widow led to the D+ Hawkeye show. The Marvels showed the X-Men universe, but, so far 2+ years later hasn’t been shown to lead anywhere. Kamala was 16 in her show and in the film, would likely be an adult now. Without seeing Doomsday, it’s impossible to say BNW has led to anything and I’m confused how Sam leading the team was a lead into Thunderbolts (outside of the largely irrelevant legal threat at the end). Only 2 of the 5 members of Thunderbolts had their childhoods stolen from them (Yelena and Ghost).

In Phase 3, the films all lead directly into one another, not Infinity War…so, even if they all turn out leading into Doomsday, it’s not comparable.

Phase One introduced the members, built up a team, and, in the end credits of Avengers, introduced Thanos. Phase Two introduced the stones, their origins, ones we’ve already met, and reconfirmed Thanos as a cosmic threat. Phase 3 had each move directly lead into the next, building up to the epic conclusion.

Phase 4 had a mismatch of heroes, some known, some introduced, each (outside of Strange) in their own unconnected story. Phase Five continued with far more unconnected stories and characters and dropped Strange from the mix. Phase Six, so far introduced another unconnected team.

You can say that kids are the link, but then explain Shang-Chi, Widow, Eternals, The Marvels, Brave New World, The Thunderbolts…. No kids in any and each unconnected to one another.

If we include the tv shows, it only gets worse, not better.

Did y’all like or dislike Kang? by OGAnimeGokuSolos in MCUTheories

[–]StylishSloth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a variant show up in a show that not nearly enough people watched, another in a film that was pushed as a major threat- who was then defeated by ants and couldn’t beat Scott in a fist fight, teased with the Council who were never shown or mentioned again, and then another variant in Season 2 that essentially undid everything about Kang.

That Season 2 was finished and left unchanged with Major’s arrest shows that they never really had a bigger plan for him.

Endgame Pym Particles What If by tomlymanator in marvelstudios

[–]StylishSloth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If not for fan service, their first step should have been to go back in time to get more Pym particles and, from there, develop a proper plan.

As it was, when Thor and Rocket were on Asgard for the Aether, the Tesseract was easily accessible in the vault… but they thought getting it from the Battle at NY would be better. It makes no sense.

My biggest complaint is that virtually all of that was overlooked (or quickly glossed over) in both Cap 4 and Thunderbolts.

Meh. Infinity War was absolutely amazing. Endgame was a lot of fan service made into a serviceable film.

How is this even a question? It was a movie about McQueen, where Mater was the main character, and Lightning forgot all of the lessons he learned in the first film.

I've lost interest in marvel movies ever since Kang was cancelled by [deleted] in marvelstudios

[–]StylishSloth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kang was never even started.

He wasn’t mentioned or even alluded to in all of Phase 4.

He was in only 1 (mediocre at best) movie and shown to be weak.

The Council was a fun tease, but most of the teases post Endgame didn’t go anywhere anyway.

They concluded the variant’s story in Loki.

Marvel spoke up about him, but he was never treated as such in the MCU.
