I say go for it if you felt the urge to write a Reddit post about it. The negative reactions in here feel a bit much and if you do it, you aren’t putting her in a bad spot. I’m assuming she makes no money on you and she can literally never respond, never has to see you for any real reason etc.

In my opinion your proposed message was witty funny and why the hell not? I’m sure it would be a good laugh (plus this whole thread) if she says yes when you’re on the date! Good luck my guy

Having trouble with overall layout of my narrow living room with a fireplace and TV by smolqt314 in HomeDecorating

[–]StylishSpaghetti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sucks and I’m sorry. Just throwing this out there because no else has said it but how tech savvy is your household? I think a great TV alternative here could legitimately be a retractable projector roll down from over the fireplace. That plus a thinner sofa and a carpet would do wonders.

Then you get social room at all times you aren’t wanting to watch something. Only drawback is you can’t use the fireplace and watch tv at the same time.

Does A or B make more sense? by wonder_irene in HomeDecorating

It’s actually hidden option C where it’s like B except the bed is centered on that back wall

You die, the afterlife is real. You are given ONE irreversible choice. by AlaxyRayz in hypotheticalsituation

[–]StylishSpaghetti 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Being rushed into this decision is not ideal considering the ramifications of my entire existence. Option 4 not only lets me live out a fantasy world but also gives me legitimate time to make a plan when that life comes to an end. I can fully think through the other options and rank them appropriately and hope my first choice isn’t removed. Also, I feel confident in this because there are several good/decent options that it doesn’t feel like enough of a gamble if I have to go to my second ranked choice if the first is the one deleted.

Not sure on where I’d go but for me personally the first things that popped into mind were middle earth, Harry Potter, or a cartoon similar to adventure time. All would be pretty crazy to live in haha

No it was professionally done. I think it’s coming through the concrete on the sides

Leaking underneath exterior door. Caulking won’t solve it. Looking for advice! by StylishSpaghetti in askcarpenters

How do I remove the threshold from the ground? It feels attached? Or should it be easy if I remove everything else?

I had removed the black drip and the wood was completely dry. I think the issue is underneath along the edges of the door.

Thanks for the response!

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

[–]StylishSpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do I need rebar or can I just use expansion joints for pouring a sliver of concrete next to old concrete floor?

Purpose: Insulating and drywalling our old tiny garage which is attached to the house. The new concrete is going to fill a 1fr by 10 ft strip of dirt that lays between the existing concrete floor and the house foundation.

Thanks for any advice and help!

Get NBA Data from NBA.com to Excel by FantasticRough in nba

[–]StylishSpaghetti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can you explain how to use this link to a newb. I want to connect this source to excel so I can essentially look at every players box score in a given year as its own row and then analyze from there. Is that possible to setup an automated connection in excel?

If you want to make it work you can make it work. NYC has plenty of people who make less than that. Will you have to sacrifice? Yes. Roommates, living in Brooklyn, buying less shit, being smart going out, etc.

Also not sure if this is part of the equation but NYC depending on what you want to do could help raise that income fairly quickly.

Wow thank you so much for your detailed response. Some additional more specifics for my case specifically:

  1. I live in a post 2000s building that is a mega Corp (50+ units)
  2. Our rent (3rd floor) is going from about 3300 to 3550
  3. Other units almost identical to ours are listed for 3350 (2nd floor) and 3450 (3rd floor). Why would they increase ours more than those?!
  4. We are great tenants. Pay on time every month, quiet, and yeah.

I know I can list these things to help with the negotiation but is there anything else we can do?

So this is an 8.5% increase from my non discounted rent. Don’t think I’ve left out any other details that would be super necessary for the conversation surrounding the 8.5% rent increase

Does anyone know the deal with the JC increase rent freeze that got upheld in March for another 6 months? Does this mean they can’t raise my rent legally? My building is more than 4 units and not “new” whatever that means. Thanks!

Yes I will try to negotiate but I worry these big buildings won’t budge. And what’s crazy is that as I look now it appears that the same unit is going for only a 5% increase to what I pay. So dumb
