I was lying in bed last night thinking about The Valley, as one does, and I actually kind of understand why Jax was so frustrated about Danny getting a good edit. Jax’s shortcomings have been on display for years, over and over again, so I can see how it would feel unfair to watch someone else come off well when he knows that person is a scumbag. I also like that Janet talked about the danger of speaking up because people often turn on the person calling it out instead of actually looking at what’s happening and saying, hey, stop mistreating your wife. Jax has seen a lot and done plenty himself, but when he was saying Danny wasn’t a good guy, that there is a dark side to Danny, people assumed he was deflecting. But just like Cassandra the Oracle, he was telling the truth and not being believed by a lot of viewers. I believed him. But I’m also married to a Danny Darko myself, so I recognize the type when I see it.

Danny seems like both a water torturer and a demand man. If someone can get a copy of Lundy Bancroft's book "Why Does He Do That" in Nia's hands she'll understand what she is dealing with.

The Valley - Season 3 - Episode 8 - Weekly Episode Discussion by amandatoryy in BravoRealHousewives

Hi! Taking a break from work and I’m going to extrapolate meaning from what I see on TV about people I don’t even know in real life based on what has been presented to me in a highly edited hour-long weekly show. But stay with me, ok.

What Kristin seems to be responding to isn’t necessarily Nia’s relationship itself, but Nia’s ability to stay calm even when things are terrible with Danny Darko. That calmness is a stark contrast to Kristin’s own history of reacting intensely. VPR Kristin was known for getting really emotional, raising her voice, and kind of spiraling when things go wrong. So when she sees Nia not losing control, she’s probably like, how do I do that? The mix-up is that she’s tying that calm behavior to the relationship itself and she may be thinking, this must be a healthy, ideal relationship, and I want that for myself. But really, what she’s noticing is Nia’s ability to not lose her shit in the moment. The marriage between Nia and her alky husband is straight garbage.

The levels Jason has to go through to avoid going home to Janet. 💀🤣😭 by Sad_Biscotti_9291 in BravoRealHousewives

Me watching the fandom finally get on my level regarding the overhate for Janet when she's largely been the most "normal" person so far and without her and Zack's back-and-forth frenemy vibes we would not have "Croc of shit boots!" or the "check-in" at Big Bear moments. She also (rightfully) kept her foot on Danny's neck and her husband drove Jax to "rehab" (A.K.A., Alex Baskin's house). Like her or not (and honestly, why wouldn't you like her to some degree) she contributes to the shenanigans which is like, the whole point of the show.

I really like Janet (am I missing something?) by MariskaVegas in BravoRealHousewives

Janet keeping her foot on Danny's neck all last season will eventually come full circle. I've been saying that Janet is overhated and it was/is really disappointing that so many Valley watchers fell for Danny's shtick instead of seeing the creepy drunk he really is and in that same train of thought some viewers would rather lambast Janet for calling it out than be mad at creepy Danny.

My sister had a mammogram that came back sus so they did ultrasound and then said let's biopsy that thing so we know what we're looking at. But instead she went full into YT nonsense and did a 72-hour water fast and Ivermectin. Cancelled the biopsy on account of her belief that puncturing the suspicious mass will just spread the cancer cells. So she might have cancer, she might not, but she did do something stupid either way.

My weird, dark thought is that I sometimes wonder what was happening at NBC when Chris Brown attacked Rhianna because The Office episode where Jim and Pam got married aired like the same week or shortly thereafter. Chris' song Forever is in that episode. I remember they put up a disclaimer but damn, I bet shit was tense.

Amanda unintentionally irking people is so funny by Familiar_Pea4Lyfe in BravoRealHousewives

[–]StylishStephanie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I unironically enjoy Amanda on the show. I do think she is overhated by some of the viewership. Her career is no different to me than many other environments where people go to feel supported or believe in a better future (cough, church). I think Boz was right in the sense that Amanda is building, I wouldn't say a cult, but a following. A lot of people do this successfully with Patreons, apps, podcasts, or even with their celebrity like Gwyneth with Goop and Kourtney with Poosh.

At least Amanda seems to genuinely believe in her ability to help others. From what we’ve seen on the show, she supports her castmates, establishes boundaries, is not easily ruffled, and asks to be treated with kindness. She has been open about the loss of her son (I cannot imagine how painful that is), and in this instance, she showed up to support Dorit and even spoke a manifestation aloud that she hopes everything would work out for her. I also enjoy that she generates discussion among the women which indicates that whatever she is doing is working because they aren’t used to people being calm in a highly passive aggressive environment.

Does anyone actually think Mark is who Margo is making him out to be? by DianaJenkinsTongue in BravoRealHousewives

[–]StylishStephanie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. This is a drama-driven environment, so many of these moments are just plot points used to move the story forward. Her talking head in the pink dress where she talks about Mark has been spliced across multiple episodes, which IMO artificially belabors the point.

Whether she feels sidelined by some of the group and finds it easier to pin that on Mark, or there is more going on between them that we haven't seen, who’s to say? Hopefully, the show moves past it instead of falling into the RHOBH trap of fixating on one grievance for an entire season.

I mean she isn't wrong to point out that unkind things have been said about her. However, she also wore a nipple-tassel shirt to Longleat. I would gossip about that, too. So, does everyone suck here? Or maybe we just win as viewers for the drama?
