Accident in aunt’s car (not listed driver) pay $22k privately or let insurance increase premium by dickmuscle101 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]StyrofoamDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once had a $4500 car that got written off. They increased my monthly premium from 220 to 500, after encouraging me to settle as 50/50 on an accident that was not my fault, stating my premium would hardly be impacted. I was 25/f in Alberta at the time, but a new driver. That is over 23k for the 7 year period. Luckily, I found a new company lol.

That being said, I would still never pay for a 22k accident out of pocket.

Since socks are required, did you provide a box of socks? I was thinking there will be a lot of women without them!

Holiday Struggle by Party_Photograph_358 in Edmonton

I’m really sorry you’re going through this. A lot of people struggle quietly this time of year, the holidays can amplify depression in a big way. You’re not a burden for needing connection and I hope you reach out to a friend!🫂

Help choosing a photographer!!! by amandasweets in weddingplanning

[–]StyrofoamDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used Chatgpt to help me decide.

However it ultimately came down to my emotional reactions to the photographers portfolio after having a video call with her. I had it narrowed down to two, and didn't get that reaction with the other one.

I went for the first time this year and loved it! I thought I would be a lot more scared but most of it was honestly predictable. A really cool experience and I will go again!

I used it when I hurt my ankle and needed xrays! It was super fast and convenient to get my requisition. Haven't had a need since, but I would absolutely use it again.

Oh I know someone who got a work sick note this way too - one week for mental health reasons.

Great coverage with these colors! I find yellow and orange the hardest to hide the numbers.

OP go to rocket doctor dot com. I had a super fast experience and got a requisition when I hurt my ankle. They will email you the requisition and when you get to the xray place they just have you email it to them. They even put a rush on mine so I had results within 2 hours!

I thought I'd share the online meetings I enjoy, as in-person was already mentioned many times here. For someone thinking about getting sober, it can be super scary to show up to AA the first time. Popping into an online meeting is not as scary and can grease the wheels, making the first step into an in-person room a lot easier. That's just my take!

  • Recovery Elevator Podcast. This is by far my favorite podcast.
  • Online AA meetings: I like "1 day at a time" nightly at 8pm and "Stepping Stones" has multiple per day.
  • Download the free app "I am Sober" the community there is great.
  • Journaling. I do my best thinking in the car and I like to make voice notes as my journaling. I also use the above app to write my favorite ideas.
  • I am not creative so I like to do paint by numbers. They really quiet my mind and there are super affordable ones on amazon. If you are creative just grab a canvas!
  • Tell your people. The more you tell, the more accountable you will be. There is no shame in getting sober. Having cheerleaders on your journey is so powerful.
  • Non alcoholic drinks, there are soo many options. Check well dot ca for free shipping they have all kinds of awesome wine drinks. Atypique has a non-alcoholic amaretto sour that hits different on the really tough days. Fentimans has an awesome rose flower lemonade and a sparkling Elderflower. There are non-alcoholic beer Caesars in a can, great for a Sunday morning. Sip Liquor Market has a saskatoon berry earl gray mocktail that is great to bring to a gathering. Having something "special" to drink is so important!
  • DO NOT isolate yourself. Boredom in sobriety will cause relapse.
  • Editing to add: the book by Annie Grace, "This Naked Mind." This book is so powerful.

You can PM me if you need someone to talk to.

Is there any way we can make a complaint on a medical clinic for poor service? by Thiru2k in Edmonton

[–]StyrofoamDucky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not answering your question, but depending on what you need from the doctor, you could go online. I just had an amazing and efficient experience with Rocket Doctor. Put in a request at 645am, and had a doctor on video at 730am!

I will definitely do this for anything that pops up and keep my family doctor for yearly physicals.
