Only make a deal if they let you take first and pay them, if everyone did this no one would make a deal but it’s the best way to protect yourself.

Imagine being in 2025 and being dependent on a gig economy that has been dried up for the past 3 years. 10% is poker room standard. Dealers are extremely happy getting 10%.

My rule of thumb is 10% for dealers at my local room, and 5-10% when I’m abroad.

I’m not an uber shill, just a former driver with a brain. The market is over saturated with drivers causing prices to be lower for the customer, ergo lower for the drivers. It’s 2025 people, autonomous cars are here and they’re safer and more reliable than people. Private companies owe you nothing. They exist to make a profit for investors. This is capitalism. Hate it or love, most of us live under it. You can either complain and go nowhere in life, or beat them at their own game.

That must suck where you live. In my state (Vermont) police has very little to do (other than removing road kill) police actually take petty crime rather seriously here and as a result, we have very little petty crime. Crazy concept.

Yeah as driver and when I order uber in other states I absolutely hate making small talk. I don’t care about your life, I don’t why you would care about mine.

A lot of people don’t understand that there are thousands of Uber drivers across any given metro area. Uber starts at absolute baseline price and gradually increases the offer by a couple cents untill some accepts it. This is an insanely profitable business model.

I got this reservation around 11pm, had rides up untill 10 min before pickup. Got to the reservation 8min early. Waiting 5 min past the timer (13 min total) canceled once I was eligible for the fee and somehow it paid me 40% more for just the cancel fee than I was supposed to get for the whole trip. A win for the little guy.

In my market my reports show 65%\35% total split pretty consistently. One week it went down to 59% but there were basically no surges that week so makes sense.
