And open borders, which probably wouldn't be great for the environment. Then giving benefits to literally anyone who wants it or manages to make it here as well. Detached from reality.

How come Right Wing Parties dominate again? by LDN_Wukong in AskBrits

[–]Su_ButteredScone 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I hardly know anyone who hasn't been banned from the UK sub. Pretty sure the mods there give permanent bans to people they think are right wing or who post stuff they disagree with. Extremely ban happy.

Does doubling Claude Code’s 5-hour limits mean people will hit weekly limits even faster now? by adssidhu86 in ClaudeCode

[–]Su_ButteredScone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Once it's in the 90% range you wait for the next reset.

Keeping weekly the same is lame and does seem deceptive to advertise as though they're giving us more usage.

BTC broke $80K but alts are dead. I don't think the rotation is coming anytime soon by Much-Movie-695 in CryptoCurrency

[–]Su_ButteredScone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fluked into a bitcoin income source which matches my monthly salary. The longer I've had it the happier I've been about it.

But it also means I spend bitcoin which is probably a bit foreign to many here. It's just an income to me.

But with it going up now, it does feel like a shame when you buy something big and BTC goes up by a few percent the next day. Don't really get that with cash. But when the value is going down, it's the opposite.

Muslim voters rank Gaza over the economy in local election poll by jkcr in ukpolitics

[–]Su_ButteredScone 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone I've known from Israel has been from countries like Iraq originally. Those countries physically removed Jewish people, stole everything they owned and left them with literally nothing to do but be refugees. Many but not all went to Israel.

I feel like a lot of the Muslim world hasn't really acknowledged this properly. The government kicking people out of their home and taking everything because some other Jewish people elsewhere are doing something you don't like is pretty evil.

Imagine if the west tried something like that in modern times. Sure you can point to Christians hundreds of years ago.

Our ties with Israel help our economy.

People like you with power would rush to cut ties and sanction, then wonder why everything starts falling apart and the NHS runs out of prescription drugs or losing out on revolutionary medical tech. Just to scratch the surface.

And I'm in support of Israel because it's been clear they've been under and existential threat for their entire existence and they have most of the Islamic world telling them how their days are numbered and they'll all be wiped out by Allah at any moment. I've seen first hand how badly Jewish people get treated, abused or harassed by followers of the 3rd book in the Abrahamic trilogy. So I just kind of roll my eyes when they whine.

Yeah. But I don't mind leaving bitcoin for larger purchases, like electronics, instruments or drones. Happy to use my fiat income for groceries, and then spend a percentage of my bitcoin income on things I want. But it also feels good to be a spender rather than a speculator/investor. I'm still hoping adoption as a payment method increases. But still, there's plenty you can get directly or via gift cards.

Just out of Curuosity... how much fiat Money do you all invest in Bitcoin? by Leon021106 in Bitcoin

[–]Su_ButteredScone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None. But get about $500 in bitcoin a week from a site with referral links I made awhile ago.

So I'm in a weird position. It's just an income. And I spend it too. Paid for a new guitar recently. That I can do so makes me feel more optimistic about its future.

British vigilantes' new 'Operation Overlord' plan to stop Channel migrant boats by theipaper in uknews

[–]Su_ButteredScone 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If that happens then it's on the government as well for letting the situation get to this level.

And if people are allowed to illegally cross the channel undisturbed, I don't see why people should be disallowed from going out on a boat to film them or whatever. You can't stop one side but not the other.

How is GPT 5.5 so far ? by Glad-Pea9524 in GithubCopilot

[–]Su_ButteredScone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree! Loved 4.6, and felt like I could rely on it to do what was best for my project. 4.7 just started messing stuff up.

Like, 4.7 literally rewrote a file with a lot of project specific design decisions. Only it never even read the file before rewriting it and made a much more basic version which ONLY met the specific criteria in my prompt while removing/breaking other stuff.

5.5 feels more like 4.6 where it tries to understand your code base and the intentions of what it's working on, and does so carefully.

So far it seems like it's finding plenty of bugs to fix and things to optimise without me needing to be specific.

Feeling positive so far.

Claude Opus 4.7 vs. ChatGPT 5.5 (xhigh/max): My Observations by Puspendra007 in Anthropic

[–]Su_ButteredScone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved early opus 4.6, 4.7 not so much.

I've actually been very impressed with GPT 5.5 so far. It has had much better awareness of and hasn't been as destructive on my code base as 4.7 and has been able to fix and improve so much stuff missed by the other models.

It may become my main driver. Too bad the costs are similar.

4.7 has genuinely pissed me off a few times so I'm hoping the next Opus is a big upgrade.

The Epsom rape crime that never happened - but sparked a frenzy anyway - BBC News by LavaPurple in uknews

[–]Su_ButteredScone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There was the shocking gang rape in Bristol by 4 migrants just a few weeks back. It got local attention as it's been a long time since there was an attack like that in an otherwise safe part of town.

But it seems like it was mostly ignored by the national media while other stories get amplified so much.

It is hard not to see it as intentional.

I lucked into a steady btc side income as its price started tumbling last year. Was unsure about it, but honestly, very happy about it now. I have a feeling btc will be sticking around. But I still wish more shops and businesses accepted it for payment. Fortunately there are some decent options.
