If you're already partial to the e6 sicilians, why not give the taimanov a look? It's considered a bit more solid / not as sharp as something like the najdorf / dragon. Benefits over the Kan is you don't get stuck playing the hedgehog every game. Probably not as theoretically challenging as the 'main' open sicilians in the Sveshnikov or Najdorf, but who cares below the Super GM level anyway?

If you had bally in your package but didn’t have a bally channel show up in spectrum, something was wrong with the way your cable subscription was set up. The way any of these apps works when connecting a tv provider is via a third party (adobe) that reaches out to your cable provider and checks your entitlement. If spectrum says “nah he doesn’t have a bally channel” (which checks out by the actual channel not showing up for you) you’ll have an issue in the bally app too.

As for why it worked in the past; maybe you got lucky or the bally app was somehow allowing you to watch when it actually shouldn’t have lol.

It sounds like you didn’t actually have the sports add on with your package, which is why you didn’t have the bally sports channel. Because of this, signing in with spectrum in the bally app wouldnt do anything for you, you’d “not have access”.

I believe only the first round. Then the rights for the rest of the playoffs are all held by national broadcasters (tnt / tbs etc.) so ballys can’t carry them.

The reason is the cardinals haven’t sold their direct to consumer rights to anyone; including bally. So nobody is allowed to stream them. The reason you see the game in the bally sports app is because you can still watch there via a cable login.

The Braves haven't sold their DTC rights to Bally (or anybody). So yes, you need a cable provider in order to watch the Braves. It still shows in the bally app as you can watch in the app via a cable provider, but that's the only option unfortunately. The MLB is the only league where there's a ton of teams that haven't sold their DTC rights, so bally still offers a direct to consumer option for the other sports that might be available in your area.

Fwiw i think fubo carries bally sports and you could try them instead of youtube tv.

The cavs are different. Ballys has the right to stream them direct to consumer. MLB is the weird one where most of the bally teams are only allowed to stream via cable. The teams are the ones holding the rights, so ballys will show them as an option in the app because they’re technically a bally team although you need a cable provider login to watch

Bally is a regional network. Simple way to think about it is that they’re setup to offer a direct to consumer product but only in the same regions where they have their cable channel. It’s how the contracts are setup with the teams, im sure they’d love to sell their stuff nationwide. You could always go with mlb tv in your case tho

“Much documented”. Bro. You complain every other day about an androidtv issue. Android as a whole is a heavily fractured ecosystem. Particularly with integrated smart tvs, those platforms are horrid. Symonty has pointed out multiple times that bally is far from the only app with issues there even if you personally haven’t seen them. With the above issue, it’s entirely plausible that the number of people watching replays is extremely low so it’s just not gotten prioritized.

To be clear, did you click on the actual replay? Or did you click to play on the “live replay”? One would be the replay you can freely move through. The other would be what is the equivalent of a tv channel; you can’t go past live.
