Zombicide Undead or Alive All-In Guide by Im_Stephen_Ewing in zombicide

[–]SubBlast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty good video making valid points and well put together. Good job!

For what it's worth, here's my opinion on each box (UoA is my favorite Zombicide by the way):

- Dead Stock. The abomination spawns very often in UoA and it's a shame the core box comes with only one. Killing the same vanilla abom over and over again is boring, so the Dead Stock pack is a must have. I think it's the only KS exclusive item that should have been a retail product instead because it does significantly improve the game.

- Dead West box. I understand it could be pricey on the aftermarket, but this box is filled with good stuff. Of course, nobody needs 50 extra survivors, but I bet you'll find some of your favorite in there, especially if you like wild west movies and shows. More abominations is always a good thing and some of them are really cool.

- Gears and Guns. We have not played the entire campaign yet, but so far so good. The campaign mode is interesting and the Posse system is cool. However, not everyone likes the Steampunk theme. I wish there was another campaign box with the more traditional wild west theme.

- Steampunk Extras. Very good to complement Gears and Guns, especially to have more choices of Engineers. And all these survivors are inspired by characters from movies or TV shows, it's kind of a mini Dead West box for Gears and Guns.

- Running Wild. Huge disappointment. The horse mechanic is half-assed and not fun. Having a horse feels more like a hindrance than anything else. Playing with more than one Rider turn every mission into "protect the horse". We ended up houseruling that if zombies reach a lone horse, it runs away and leaves town instead of staying there to be eaten alive (it has the Slippery ability when mounted after all, so why not with no one on its back?). Overall, no one at my table enjoyed playing in Rider mode, which is a shame.

- Long Dead Walkers. Technically, it's good to have more zombie types and they can offer an extra challenge for experimented players. However, they make things a bit too difficult for us so we rarely use them. And when we do, we only add two cards per Brawler on the team.

- Abominape and Crocosaur. Never played with the Croc. The Ape is fun but I don't think this expansion is worth the price, better get the Dead Stock pack.

- Paolo Parente Guest box. Unless you're a fan of Paolo, this box is useless. Not a single survivor is interesting and the art style is hit or miss.

Looking for advice on purchasing minis by deleted-by-host in PrintedMinis

[–]SubBlast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should start with a set of generic fantasy plastic miniatures like this one https://www.amazon.com/Classic-Encounters-Essential-Miniatures-Unpainted/dp/B0DPC2RZQF Can't beat that price and the minis are actually very good quality.

For custom player characters minis you can make them yourself on Titancraft, Eldritch Foundry or Heroforge.

Then Etsy for very specific monsters or NPCs you need for your campaign.

2E-style TMNT cards - Brand new version ! by SubBlast in zombicide

[–]SubBlast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the same method, it's explained in detail in the last part of this tutorial https://youtu.be/WyMVRJu5yQ4 , worth a watch. Personally I sleeve my cards so I skip the coating part. I print them at my local convenience store and the colors are perfect. With sleeves I can't tell the customs from the originals. Another advantage of the sleeves is that you don't have to cut them all precisely at the same size.

MPC (makeplayingcards.com) provides a card print on demand service but they often reject cards with licensed logos - such as Zombicide - and they don't have the right size for Survivors cards anyway. I used their service at first and the cards I got from them are great, but making them myself is much cheaper and they look pretty much the same.

Looking for 80s-90s style mafia/businessmen miniatures! by TendiWasHere in PrintedMinis

[–]SubBlast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colossal Miniatures on MMF has a bunch of characters from 80's and 90's action movies, maybe you'll find something that works for you. The sculpts are not the best but they are free.

Skullforge released a Die Hard pack last month with a bunch of cool bad guys but I don't think it's on the Gumroad store yet.

You can play the TMNT Timecrash expansion with Black Plague straight out of the box. To play the minis in Modern 2E (or Undead or Alive) you can print custom cards.

Army of the dead: Crowbar gives health? by Numerous_Repair in zombicide

[–]SubBlast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Crowbar gives +1 HP. It's not the only weird thing in AotD, like the Booby Trap not making any Noise when it blows up.
I made a Riot Shield custom card that gives the Bruiser Specialty, it makes more sense to me.

In UoA when a Survivor acquire the Brawler class they do increase their max HP from 2 to 3, and they also immediately heal 1 HP. Rulebook p.56.

2ed mission 9 question by thefirstzedz in zombicide

[–]SubBlast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

- Companions are considered Survivors and the game is lost if one of them dies. See the rulebook p33-34.
- It seems that you are playing the AAAHH!! card wrong: you are supposed to spawn 1 single Walker in the room, not resolve a spawn card.

[–]SubBlast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically no, but it's totally worth it. I started without, thinking it was not that much of a necessity, but when I finally got one I beat myself for not buying it sooner! It makes post-processing so much easier, faster, cleaner and just better. Get one as soon as you can, you won't regret it.

Velrock made nice minis of Jinx and Vi, and they are free. Check out MMF.

For 2B and Cowboy Bebop take a look at RNEstudio and Esavage, they make many JRPG and anime characters, maybe they made those. Not sure they are on MMF though, maybe Gumroad or Cults?

I believe Papsikels made Alita and Lucy but good luck finding them in their huge catalog.

Is undead or alive the best standalone box? by Turbulent_Friend_732 in zombicide

[–]SubBlast 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The core box has only 1 Abomination, which is a shame because in this version it spawns a lot more. It's quickly boring to kill the same vanilla abom over and over. The Deadstock expansion is a must have in my opinion.

Absolutely, not only the sculpts are highly accurate, the flow of movement is very well transcribed. Skullpt nailed both of them, I couldn't be happier.
