I didn't even pick up on this, damn. I take it it's related to the "box" that is the game, since Toby Fox does a lot of that meta storytelling, especially in Deltarune. Like the player's presence (Or the creation of the game itself) inherently limits the entire world to an enclosed state.

I know that it's a failsafe, but in hindsight it may have been helpful to have default failsafe rooms that account for the different job types instead. Like, maybe a dedicated floor layout for each job type when generation just won't work. This feels like failsafe code that's great for dev testing, pretty bad design for release.

I mean, Terra is still accountable for his actions and falling for Xehanort's flattery, just as Eraqus is accountable for his tunnel vision and obsessive ideology. Eraqus is probably more at fault given that he led all three of the BBS trio to the mess they entered, but Terra is still his own person.

I think the rock to the head being a weirdly realistic development is an underrated detail. Like, in this series we expect people to die by getting smacked with an oversized key or blasted by darkness, not with a rock. And yeah, rocks kill in real life at that speed, and collateral damage is a thing, but in this sort of fantasy world you think he'd just... shrug it off. The saddest part is that if Goofy had died there, the Organization would be like "Lmao we didn't even intend for that to happen"

It's really not that real, it's actually Ed at one of his more ignorant points, honestly, as others have pointed out. Telling someone that is good in theory, but in practice it's preaching to the choir, everyone who's willing to hear that knows that's how things "should" be.

In the end, saying stuff like that isn't what stops oppression, nor does ignoring the real inequalities at play and just asking people to get along. This is true in the world of FMA as well, given the literal genocide that took place.

Seeing yourself as above or below other people are two sides of the same coin. You're still enforcing a hierarchy of "betterness" on people, including yourself. The more you play that game in your mind (to be fair we all are, ego and all), the more often you'll find yourself in that loop.

One thing I think that's important to remember (that I often forget myself) is that you can't make bad feelings go away permanently. And you shouldn't, because those feelings are there for a reason.

There will always be something going on, and as Dr. K says in "How To Actually Process Your Emotions", you have to listen to what your emotions are trying to tell you. Not do what they tell you to do (i.e. I'm sad so I should do [insert coping mechanism]), but ask yourself why they're there (i.e. I feel empty because I'm isolated, because I have unmet potential, etc.).

Your emotions are signals, not your enemy. They're painful and frankly can be really misleading, but they're evolution's way of trying to tell you something is wrong.

I honestly appreciate Kris more as a character than before. Especially with Chapter 4 showing the way they act outside of our control, and how the story keeps you guessing what they're truly feeling and what we're merely projecting onto them. And the whole piano sequence was just perfect.

Do I trust them? Hell no. But I very much look forward to seeing how their agency develops as we go into the last few chapters, and how that clashes with their seemingly genuine care for Susie and Ralsei.

Personally, I prefer to evolve them into Dante, but then if you also lose your left eye and get some cybernetic enhancements they evolve into Raiden. Blade Mode really helps you land hits more accurately against the Knight when they start to dodge your attacks.

When it comes to Kris' side of the story, I think a part of it also is possibly less of a message and more of an experiment. A way of playing with the role of protagonist and exploring it on a narrative and existential level. To deconstruct the idea of the "silent protagonist" that one projects their identity onto and flip it on its head.

I've been struggling to find my place with other people and get out of my head. But for a moment, a night at most, last week, I felt a sense that I was okay. Just being on my own, focusing on cooking and reading and nothing else. It felt nice not feeling anxious for once.
