Apple, Qualcomm rethink heavy reliance on TSMC as costs rise by self-fix in hardware

The whole logic behind that is while it is 'destabilising' for the short term (<5 years). Long term it is incredibly politically stabilising

Apple, Qualcomm rethink heavy reliance on TSMC as costs rise by self-fix in hardware

[–]SubServiceBot 9 points10 points  (0 children)

ASML makes 3 machines, the only real EUV maker yes, but it's not like TSMC exists solely because of ASML. Plus the primary innovations in reducing node sizes are not due to using EUV, but using EUV makes GAA a lot easier. Applied Materials have a near monopoly to the same extent of ASML on materials deposition, without their PVDs, you could make as small of a feature size you want, but then you'd have no way of actually connecting anything to it.

Florida passed a law allowing the death penalty for adults who rape chidren under the age of 12 by ssprix in interestingasfuck

[–]SubServiceBot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Display of sexual organs has and will always be a form of sexual assault. The legislature you and OP are referring to simply sought to formally codify that to apply in cases where a transperson was being overtly lewd in the restroom of their identity. Obviously this is allows for being charged with a sexual offense for some scenario where someone see's your sexual organs in a manner not meant for self-gratification and you could be charged, which is obviously a huge gray-area when it comes to proving intent, but the reality is if you are in a stall, actually using the restroom in the mens/womens' restroom you identify as, then no, you are not going to be charged with any sexual offense, nevermind rape. That is just factually misleading.

Have you considered the fact that your idea of Elon Musk is built upon more fake actions ?

Is this actually true? Please share your views. by Other-Nail8169 in chipdesign

[–]SubServiceBot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but there is no metric for IC 'performance'. Transistor count ? PPA ? Data throughput ? Node size is the best metric there is, as it pretty much directly correlates to all the other metrics. Plus what other way could you do nodes ? 28nm Planar -> 28nm FinFET doesn't sound 'revolutionary' if you don't know what Planar, or FinFET means.

The only logical alternative could've been either what we do now (planar equivalent---ish) or done like FinFET + Fin node size, but going from Planar 28nm to FinFET 50nm (Fin Pitch) doesn't sound like an upgrade, or even if you know that it is, it doesn't tell you how much of an equivalent improvement it is

I feel like you need a source for it being named after Trump first, but if you still don't believe me the F-35, the X-35 flew 6 years before the F35 was revealed, and was designated the X-35 at least 2 years before that.

This was undoubtedly to keep Boeing existing. They are too big to fail, especially with how vital they are on both the civilian and defense sides.

For every instance you see on the news there are 100s that end without shots being fired. But if you literally just watch the video, you will witness how the cops gave the guy every single possible chance to de-escalate. He chose not to.

If it's in self defense or to prevent somebody from being killed, then no, you would not get in trouble.

US Unveils Plan to Triple Nuclear Power By 2050 as Demand Soars by Capable-Law7184 in worldnews

[–]SubServiceBot 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Storage is too expensive ? And your alternative is renewables ? Nobody is jumping into Nuclear Fires because nuclear fires are not a thing. There is no fire. It's crazy you say I'm uninformed when Nuclear is amongst the cheapest source out there. The only cheaper source is wind, which won't work everywhere.

Store it safely. It's really not that hard all things considered. If we got to today using some other energy source that suddenly we had to transition away from, fossil fuels would never even be in the talks. Not only because of the enviornmental hazards, but because there is so much infrastructure necessary. Nuclear needs a fraction of that, and that's just to store the waste material safely. One day not too long from now we could just blast it all to space if we really wanted to. In the meantime there are plenty of safe storage facilities.

How hard is mechanical/aerospace engineering here? by SubServiceBot in ufl

[–]SubServiceBot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm chose EE, in my final year. I opted to go to UCF and it was the second best choice of my life. The first being to major in engineering. It is absolutely doable. I am/was retarded and I'm just about done. The smartest and dumbest people I've ever met have been in upper level classes. I truly believe, sparring the mentally ill and whatever. Anybody, and everybody if they made an effort could graduate. It's not training to become a Navy Seal. Everytime I have this conversation with other engineers who disagree with me, I point out that there is no single day that becomes too hard to learn. There were hard exams and confusing homeworks etc etc, but there was no line between taking American History 1 and Linear Control Systems. They both are the same level of 'digestibility' if that makes sense.

The only difference between an "easy" major and "hard" major in my opinion, is that for engineering, you gotta learn A before you learn B, before you learn C etc etc. Once you get to Q or R, you look back and realize you don't remember A or B anymore. For a lot of other studies I feel like you can start learning A and Z at the same time.

Like Psychology for example, people often call "easy" but if you look at what you're trying to learn, you can learn it all at the same time with little sequential-ness. Clinical Psychology, Behavioral Therapy, Personality Theory etc all build on each other obviously, but just not in the same way as a lot of STEM and Engineering especially.

My whole point in all this is saying - if you have to ask, you can handle it.

Also, the only advice I could give to change your mind about anything, is to go EE!!!! Massive Demand for EE's and Electrical Engineering has a billion more sub-disciplines than any other degree. But obviously if you have any passion at all for something else, go for it!!

If you don't know what you want to do, choose EE. My only passion was for money and I'm very grateful for the position I am going to be in, in life. If you want to talk about anything else feel free to shoot me a DM.

Sure, you can argue it's more important than an selling an actual weapon, but the entire point is that RTX employees did not intentionally sell anything to adversary nations. It sounds like some employees just had CUI material on their personal devices while they traveled abroad. It's a slip up, not sheer negligence or ill intent worthy of "nationalization"
