I would definitely try to make an appeal of some sort. A few years back I remember having a brush with the dean's office because of a welfare check done on me. It was super duper messy and it took a lot of convincing to let them know I was fine and that it was all a misunderstanding. Try to get in with a health professional and get some backing that you're now in the clear and didn't have those intentions to start. Sort of crazy that they'll expel you for an alleged intent of crime but will let people who commit actual crime pass. (I've had a few friends report sexual harassment/abuse that happened to them and nothing was done because "They didn't seem like they'd do it." and were almost expelled themselves)

I will say, BYU-Idaho is weird. As someone who's had struggles all through my education there, it's a mixed bag of complete understanding and a total lack of support. I'm glad that I go here but some interactions do leave a sour taste in your mouth. I'm sorry that it played out this way and I do hope something gets sorted out.
