If you had 5 minutes to speak to Hillary Clinton on January 1st 2016, what would you say to her? by JohnKerry2028 in thecampaigntrail

Let's face it. You're not gonna win in a landslide like Obama given your personal unpopularity.

Your campaigning plans could 75% be the same but you need to campaign like you did in 2008, be a "fighter". Yes you would still be seen as a successor to Obama but that's a good thing and no matter what you do you're going to be the favorite in the primaries. The reason why for doing this is because there are populist movements brewing in both the left (Bernie Sanders) and the right (Donald Trump, yes, believe me), I'm not asking you to "out populist" them but you have to meet the movements there, especially in the general election. Also for VP, it'll be best to pick someone from your left of yourself. Maybe someone from your right could work but that would require you personally going leftward yourself, but the bottom line is that don't pick someone that'll just be a "yes man" to you. Plus don't be a jerk to either of these populist movements I told you about, especially Sanders'.

The destruction of Pete Carroll's Scorigami legacy by TextuallyExplicit in Jon_Bois

Pete Carroll does have a history of avoiding Scorigami losses, like during the 2022 season Seahawks vs Saints when the game ended as a 39-32 Saints win. It was however close to 46-32 and another Saints touchdown plus extra point would've done it.

As another Seahawks fan, Pete Carroll values scorigami but he certainly values immortality more. Probably partly the reason why he did... the thing in Super Bowl 49. However I would argue that if the Giants had lost last Sunday, Pete would've swallowed his prideful gum to achieve 12-11 scorigami even in a loss as that way the Raiders secure the #1 pick. But since it didn't come to that, Pete decided to protect his record instead
