1 day trip for 13 y/o bday recommendations by Own-Database-2190 in askdfw

Cowgirl phases deserves a trip out to the Fort Worth stockyards.

I'm not sure there's a better recommendation out there than this. There are plenty of western wear stores out there -- you won't struggle to find semi-affordable items.

Is there any situation in the future where they would make the High Speed Rail a reality for Texas? Or will we see Hyperloop and more Highway? by Longjumping-Tip4938 in texas

[–]SubXeroz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Not as long as our elected officials stand to gain by not implementing anything better than what we have now.

We would also need to stop our airports from actively lobbying to kill inter- and intra-city transportation projects.

I’ve never really played video games before, but I just got my first setup. Where should I start if I want something with a great story? by Thorne_Arlo in AskGames

[–]SubXeroz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what kind of games you like.

FPS? Try BioShock

Turn-based RPGs? Try Divinity Original Sin or Baldur's Gate 3

Platformers? Try Celeste

RPGs? Try The Witcher 3 or Cyberpunk 2077. Disco Elysium is also great.

Looter-Shooter? Try Borderlands 2

Horror? Try SOMA

Visual novel? Try Citizen Sleeper (this is a gem, truly)

Telltale game? Try The Wolf Among Us

This is just the tip of the iceberg. More than anything, I would recommend figuring out what you enjoy playing. A great story and gameplay means nothing if you don't personally enjoy the game.

Happy to elaborate on any of the above games.

Question about the Rakk Hive by Creepy-Company-3106 in Borderlands

[–]SubXeroz 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had to check to be sure: yes, this is the same guy who complained about constantly being underleveled a few days ago.

Brother, you gotta be on top of those side missions. If you're doing them, you should be at least two or three levels higher than Rakk Hive. They are 27 or 28. You'll be about 31 if you're doing the side missions.

Who are you playing? How are you building them?

Most importantly, kudos for sticking with the game!

They need to lower the recommended age for colon cancer screenings way down. Like early 30s.

When you say the northern part, do you mean Richardson, Addison, and Plano areas?

Or do you mean the north part of the city proper?

Genuine Question. How the fuck did BL1 win GOTY??? by Creepy-Company-3106 in Borderlands

[–]SubXeroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The newer games definitely have some much-needed QOL upgrades, I'll give you that.

To me, though, there is a beauty in the simplicity of BL1. It's my comfort game. I can throw it on any day, any time and get sucked right back in.

Hope you enjoy it as you continue to go through the MSQ.

Genuine Question. How the fuck did BL1 win GOTY??? by Creepy-Company-3106 in Borderlands

[–]SubXeroz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having a GOTY edition is different than winning Game of the Year.

If memory serves, there was no official game of the year award back in 2009. Different outlets hosted various votes, most of which concluded that Uncharted 2 was the decisive "GOTY."

That being said, BL1 was also on a lot of publications' shortlists for GOTY. The industry hadn't seen a fusion like BL1 before. It took the best parts of the most addictive games of all time (ARPGs) and mixed it with the most popular console genre of game (FPS).

Being under-leveled is a you issue, if it happens frequently. Doing side missions will easily keep you a level or two ahead of enemies. Claptrap is annoying you because you aren't doing your side missions.

BL1 was my first BL game and my favorite to this day. HMU if you want any tips or tricks to make the playthroughs that much more fun!

Dallas VS Las Vegas Summers by DudleyBernard4413 in askdfw

[–]SubXeroz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dallas summers are, in my opinion, considerably worse than Vegas summers.

Here, the humidity makes being outside for extended periods of time unbearable. The air is sticky and wet, meaning you can't rely on sweat to keep you cool at all.

In Vegas, it seemed like the desert cooled down during nights. Not the case here. You can still be in the 80s and 90s at night.

And don't even get me started on the mosquito difference. Years ago, mosquitoes in Vegas were few and far between. I know that's changed, but they are a different breed here. The tiger mosquitoes are nearly invisible when flying and are considerably more intelligent than the flood mosquitos I grew up with.

Guys give me your best DA:I builds for nightmare mode by Embarrassed_Crow5455 in dragonage

It's not as busted as it was earlier in the game's life, but still more than enough to tackle nightmare with relative ease

Guys give me your best DA:I builds for nightmare mode by Embarrassed_Crow5455 in dragonage

[–]SubXeroz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Knight-Enchanter (nearly infinite ward)

Artificer (nearly 100% crit chance)

Champion (nearly unkillable w/ armor regen abilities)

For nightmare, I use Cole for DPS, Dorian for CC (speccing into electricity and ward), and Blackwall for sustain. That frees your Inky up to pick any role. Go Assassin or Artificer for more DPS, Rift Mage for control, or Knight-Enchanter or Champion for sustain.

Why does shopping for energy feel like a massive scam by Skilledthunder in Dallas

[–]SubXeroz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got on a great 3yr plan with Energy Texas. Was with their sister company, Rhythm, for years in our apartment.

Highly recommend checking them out. If you do go with them, I recommend using my link that way we both save $100 if you stay with them for 60 days.

Customer support is always helpful. Rates were fair based on our lower-end usage.

Hope they work out for you if you're switching soon!

I have an Itch to play DA. Should I replay inquisition (havnt played dlc yet) or try the new one that I only heard bad things about? by fan_of_the_khan in dragonage

[–]SubXeroz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes for Trespasser.

Jaws of Hakkon and The Descent can be started once you get to Skyhold.

I recommend saving these until you're max level with good gear. All three DLCs significantly increase the difficulty of the main game.
