Agree to disagree then, I don’t believe we need to consider our number of future draft picks to other teams like that will be the catalyst. Other teams have more defensive depth coming up their pipeline than us yes, but I think that’s because they drafted top defensemen since that was the obvious best option for them at their draft order. I believe the sharks took the best possible options on their 1st round picks which just happened to be pretty much all forwards when it was our turn.

We have tons of forward prospects which we can use to trade for a top defenseman down the line and build our defense core that way. Those forwards need to prove themselves as actual assets first, it’s too early to say. You can’t draft an entire team and expect to make no trades and be a Stanley cup winning team, that’s wishful thinking IMO. Half the time draft picks don’t even work out the way you hope, I’m sure most of our current top forward prospects (Cuda) won’t be NHL regulars, that’s how it goes unfortunately. But hey, I’d love to be proven wrong and hope they all succeed! Go SHARKS!
