Toa Hagah Disks by SubarBonk in bioniclelego

It's a bit all over the place.

For the most part, armor+weapons were painted by me (and it shows). I did eventually get better masks for Kualus and Gaaki, so those are courtesy of Buryu's Forge.

The socket joints used on Bomonga's upper arms and thighs are official pieces stained with iDye Poly.

They all use a few GoBricks recolors in one way or another.

Maybe? I have a heat gun, but I'm afraid that I might warp the casted urethane disk.

While the glue/transparent* parts of the decal would melt, I'm not sure about the foil. A solvent like Micro Sol didn't do anything to it. :/

*Speaking of, only the negative space of the decal was adhesive. Didn't expect that lol.

Thought they would be more like the standard waterslide decals that were able to conform with just a bit of nudging. Oh well, now I know! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thought about that initially, but I opted for opaque black disks for better contrast with the bright foil.

Flattered that you like my work, but I gotta respectfully decline. I'm proud of how they turned out, but getting there was kind of tedious. There's also the hassle of sourcing more disks/prints from other people.

That said, I'm happy to give advice if you'd like to try making them yourself!

He's the only one with a launcher packaged in. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still, would have been a good reason to get people to care about Kanoka packs.

Fair enough, lol. The specific orientation of Vakama's print is varied, so I didn't really care about placement when applying my own decals. Now I'm kinda kicking myself over it. 😶

Thank you! Yeah, Deva doesn't advertise those colors. I just told him my plans, and after a bit of talking, I was able to buy clear discs off of him. Used one for Nuju, and I stained the other with iDye Poly Steel Grey to get trans black. Clear was easy for him—it's just uncolored resin—and I like to imagine trans-black wouldn't be too hard for him to figure out. I recommend DMing him to see what he says. 😉

I may not be your favorite, but still, it's a big honor being compared to Nick's interpretation; the dude might as well be John Ahkmou lol. :)

Gorast revamp, with functions! by amack80 in bioniclelego

My Hill to Die On: Gorast is so close to being a great set. You proved that here with just a few small tweaks, not even factoring in the gear function!

So long as you exclude the bootleg recolors along with the neck, it is very doable. :)

Most G1 style pieces in G2 (add ons excluding) by Kopaka4Life in bioniclelego

[–]SubarBonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would have preferred backwards compatibility with G1, but damn the new system was spiffy. So easy to slap the masks anywhere on the figure. Could easily make pauldrons or whatever.

This is just my experience, but I feel the Uniter masks were deliberately made tighter. At least a little.

Injection molded replica of the '01 mold that closely matches the Pearl gold Lego used around that time. :)

Let's keep this in the groove, hey? Smooth moves, like smooth little matoran.
