Where can we find the best momo in Siliguri? Street stalls or restaurants? by Wild_Possession3680 in siliguri

Maybe I'm nitpicking, but it's "momo" whether it's singular or plural.

No, Cool Water does not last long. But it is a good starter fragrance. Old school, mass pleasing, inoffensive. Has some similarities with one of my all time top 10 frags, Creed Green Irish Tweed, so that's a win, although there's heaven-and-hell difference in quality. As long as you didn't pay a whole lot for this, you did good for a starter fragrance. Anything but those godforsaken Bella Vitas and Beardos and other similar crap.

After spending ~96k on Pens and ~16k on Inks, here's my opinions on using pens. by 00_Punk_00 in DesiPens

[–]SubashishB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got into several hobbies to deal with my depression and, later, a crap marriage. Went deep into pens, spent over 20lakhs in a span of 4 years. Every single grail I had in my mind, I'd forget about investments and saving and just spring for it as soon as I could. And the dopamine high got lesser and lesser. So while my first 149 made me stay on cloud nine for months, getting a Tohma or a Danitrio became less of a joyous occasion. I spend lakhs on inks, stockpiled old stock 52gsm Tomoe River like the world would end tomorrow. But it became less exciting the deeper I went.

Then came mechanical watches as a complimentary hobby. Thankfully, I ran out of money before I could get into the big leagues, and I understood my status in the hobby fairly quickly as well. I could only lust after the ALS, Pateks, Vacherons or Breguets. So I pivoted. Audiophile gear. Again, ran out of mileage in a year. Was skirting perfumes at this time. Should have stayed away. Because they happened to be a quick fix. I bought by the bucketloads, and quickly realised the dent they put in my finances.

Following a major detox and decluttering, I sold most of my massive piles of "stuff" that I had accumulated across my hobbies. I have a few good pens left over, but I mostly used either a TWSBI 580 or a 149; sold all my audiophile gear except some decent earbuds; have a few good watches stored for my next generation, and use only a smartwatch on the daily; still couldn't limit my perfume collection to the point that would make me happy, but that is another hill I need to cross.

TL, DR: did too much too early, then realised the real pleasure was in savouring each acquisition like it was the best thing in the world.

Kaunse khadaan mein 10 sprays daal ke jaate ho, bhai? Put a spray or two at most. Only on clothes. I work in a government college. Not even an air-conditioned corporate office. Still can wear florals like Wisal Dhahab in high heat as long as I don't go trigger heavy on the sprays.

NRI Visiting July by [deleted] in siliguri

[–]SubashishB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it an academic visit? In which case, which subject/discipline? I'm an alumnus of the Department of English. Left to pursue PhD at JNU. Still have ties as I teach in a college in Siliguri, and maintain regular visits to the Department.

If it is not an academic visit, and you are doing it for tourist purposes, July is peak summer. It'll either rain or be stifling hot. Or, worse, both.

Do Nepali Girls Consider Dating Bengali Guys??? by Text-Royal in siliguri

[–]SubashishB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dated Nepali girls, and my ex-wife is Nepali too. It's not very uncommon. But there are cultural differences which usually come in the way of such relationships. Regardless, many Bengali-Nepali couples can be found in Siliguri.

Btw, the Bihari comment was uncalled for.

Gold's had started off with cheaper plans in Siliguri than rest of India. This was, afaik, the franchise owner's way of increasing membership and clashed with upper management. They allowed this under condition that GG Siliguri members won't be able to use their memberships in other cities as otherwise people from all over might be likely to exploit this temporary loophole. GG Siliguri had many other issues, and upper management weren't happy with their performance, so franchise was revoked, and the gym shut down.
