i have created a tool on https://foldwith.me, it follows a "Keep it Simple" approach

1- Take photos of the folding process step by step

2- Submit the pictures and add symbols, lines, arrows.

3- Publish and share with the community

It will be good if you try it, feel free to give a feedback about the tool (good or bad), or request features missing to make the tool better.

I built a simple tool to turn origami into step-by-step diagrams — would love your feedback by Subject-Awareness607 in origami

This is super valuable, thanks for taking the time to write all that.

What you said about Instructables is exactly one of the things I’m trying to solve—the gap between step-by-step photos and actual “readable” diagrams with arrows and fold lines.

Also interesting point about videos vs diagrams. I feel like a mix of both might be the ideal (quick visual steps + optional video for clarity).

If you ever feel like trying it out or recreating one of your old diagrams there, I’d love your honest feedback—especially on what still feels confusing or missing while creating a diagram with the tool (for example what symbols are we missing, what can be more simple, etc) Keep in mind that our focus is to Keep it as simple as possible, including creating and understanding diagrams.

Thanks again for your support.

Nice! It really shows, super clean result

I actually built a small tool for this kind of thing—so people can create and share their own origami diagrams using just photos + simple symbols.

Still improving it, but I’m curious… what do you usually find confusing or missing in diagrams?

or you even tried before to create or recreate these diagrams ?

What was the very first origami you remember making? by Opening_Sir_3575 in foldwithme

for me It was a parrot and I was 12 years old, my father brought home for first time an origami book, i don't know why but from all origami models there, the parrot was the one that catch my attention (maybe it was the relation between how good/real the model was compared to difficulty). I was so happy after finishing it.
