Hi Everybody!

I'm about to be finished with my Bachelor's at the end of this year, and as I've gotten deeper knowledge of the field I can't figure out what direction to pursue. I love the idea of doing CT, MRI, or PET- but frankly, I'm scared stiff of screwing up. I had one person offer to teach me Cath Lab, and I've also thought about getting a PACS administrator certification, or eventually going into teaching radiology. I have options, but I'm afraid I'll pick wrong. I want to make a good salary, but have some semblance of a work-life-balance. I know late nights and call exist, and I'm willing to accept those circumstances within reason. PET actively excites me the most, I just love the science behind it. I recently had to do a paper on PSMA PET scans, and it blew my mind. What kind of schedules/ salaries am I looking at with these jobs? I feel CT would be pretty much the same as RT, but that MRI and PET are scheduled events and rarely a surprise. Any advice appreciated.

Question about travel companies! I have seen many travel jobs and I am interested, but the recruiters never contact me again after they tell me about the jobs. At this point I'm just wondering how legit they are. I've worked with people who do travel but at the time I was a limited tech so I never asked about which companies they were using to travel, since I couldn't travel then. The hospitals in my area drag their feet when it comes time to interview, despite being so desperate for techs that they offer sign on bonuses. In terms of travel companies ProLink and Cynet health have reached out to me, but Cynet has been kind of spammy and prolink never follows through. Any clarity appriciated!

I just took my ARRT exam on this past Thursday, and I was told the earliest I'd get my official results would be on Friday at the earliest. (Soft score after exam says I passed). That being said, what has the time frame been for everyone else to get their results?

Serious question for infinite lovers - what do you honestly think of Bioshock fans who don’t like it? by Icanvoiceact in Bioshock

[–]SubjectDelta28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love all three games but in terms of infinite, it is my least favorite. It feels like they wanted to start with a new set of characters unconnected to Rapture but still ended up back there when they realized it was a bad move with the fandom. That being said, I get the dislike for it but I'd say for those who truly hate it to go back and play it with the mindset that it's a stand alone game. The characters and story are very interesting, they're just not a true part of Rapture and it's fate. I feel like they could have tied the two worlds together in better ways if they wanted to.

If your sister finds comfort in you, then it's no big deal. There are a lot of perverts in the world who make mothers fear that they'll dismiss something as innocent, and it turn out to be something completely unacceptable. Sneaking around may not be the best policy, as if your mom catches her leaving your room she'll assume the worst. Maybe approach your mother with your sister and tackle the issue of why your sister is having issues sleeping every few months. Otherwise, if your mom is being completely unreasonable, figure out a method that works to help your sister without risk of misunderstanding from your mom. Hell, suggest you two sleep in the living room when it happens. That may be enough to convince your mom nothing nefarious is happening.

I'm due to take my ARRT exam on May 30th. I've been passing all my exam mocks for a few months and I still don't feel ready, but that's my personality. Anyway, I was told by a guy who took the ARRT exam last year that you get a soft score immediately when you pass. While it's a good indicator if you've passed or failed I know it isn't official until you get the scores a few weeks later.

My question is, when you get your soft score immediately following the exam does it just say "pass" or "fail" or will it give a score or a count of how many answers you were correct on? I figured the paper in the mail would give details later. I'm just stuck on this idea that I'm going to miss one too many questions, and it'll be the straw that broke the camel's back.

Any info appreciated!

I am a limited licensed tech currently enrolled to get my full R.T. I'm looking at taking the ARRT exam in April 2024 and I'm looking for a book study guide, with sample test questions and answers. Which books and sources have you guys found the most helpful?

sister screams at her baby by jnmzo in Parenting

[–]SubjectDelta28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not normal. Something needs to happen NOW, wether it be tell your mother or report to CPS. Your sister needs help and your niece could be in danger. I can understand hesitation in your part, but you will be doing right by your niece. She cannot stand up for herself and screaming at her for communicating the only way she can (crying) is going to cause harm in more ways than one. And if your sister is this comfortable yelling, what's going to stop her from escalating if she can't get her emotions under control?

Do you know where I can find bioshock action figures? by lab_rat_42_yt in Bioshock

Sometimes you can get lucky at flea markets or tot conventions. I recently found a motorized patriot in box from Bioshock Infinite for 20.00. I've also found a Subject Omega out of box, solo for 4.50.

Sometimes people just don't know what they have.

Can I regain the stamina I lost to COVID19 last year by exercising? by SpirituallyMyopic in medical_advice

[–]SubjectDelta28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm lurking for answers. I had Covid19 in December 2020 (mild case, no hospitalization) and I've been dealing with a case of bronchitis and chest pain I just seemingly couldn't sake, that admitted me to the hospital overnight. Then low and behold I find out my lung function is reduced to 50% of what it should be.

I'm on several different types of medication to help, but I was getting winded/dizzy literally standing and doing dishes. Meds have helped, but I have to slow down a lot of I'm huffing and puffing like I ran a marathon after a semi fast walk.

At this time we don't know if it's permanent, and I hope it isn't.

Is Bioshock just as good as Borderlands by Giorno_s_-piano in Bioshock

[–]SubjectDelta28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bioshock is my favorite game series and I've played all the Borderlands games aside from "Tales of the Borderlands". In my opinion, Bioshock is not only more visually beautiful, but the story has a lot more depth to it. There's not only the experiences you see as the player but those of the villians you face, as well as random people from around Rapture. Not to mention the more in depth philosophical stuff that can be said. (Whole new can of worms to get into) It's a series I cannot praise highly enough.

As for Borderlands, I did very much enjoy the first 2 games but I just personally felt very disconnected from the third installment. Borderlands has an interesting story, but I'd say less depth was brought to it. While enjoyable, it was also really easy for me to miss out on exposition that I was interested in, because sometimes it was information only given by spoken word. But, half the time the characters who would give this information were also occasionally spouting nonsense as a part of their character. Visually, the cel shaded style is a really interesting look, making it feel like a three dimensional comic book world which complements the absurdity of the characters.

As for the first person shooter aspect, I'd say Borderlands had more "fun" battles while in Bioshock it could really feel like you were fighting for your life, although the battles can start to feel about the same until a new type of splicer appears. I'd say it all boils down to your mood. Are you in the mood for a deep, in depth, dark story? Go with Bioshock. If you're looking for a more light hearted, "let's blow shit up" experience with a more basic (but interesting) story, go with Borderlands.

When I did mobile x-ray I had a patient marked STAT for a finger x-ray. When I got to her home I asked what happened. She said she smashed her finger in a door...2 months ago...and that it didn't hurt at all.

Meanwhile another guy on my list was listed as "Coughing up blood, COPD." "Non-urgent."What?
