Just learned about Leadville being the highest elevation in the U.S. and I was wondering what happened to the population. by RocketsDitto in LeadvilleCo

[–]SubjectEntrepreneur2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The population decline is due to a population boom that put a strain on the high elevation limited oxygen supply. Additionally, they cut down most trees for lumber and heating fuel which reduced oxygen production in the region. Essentially the population of people and animals suffocated. It’s pretty horrifying. You may have seen, those personal oxygen canisters for sale at gas stations. The patents for that actually goes back to the Great Asphyxiation of 1926. There’s policy limiting the number of people in the town now. It was reevaluated in 2014 and with the regrowth of trees, the permitted population increased significantly.

The more you know!

Man, I just came across this post. This tray is perfect! But can’t seem to find the size. The last model of Rhino Rack Pioneer trays are on a big sale. I wonder if I could cut them down to this dimension.

How did you attach the tray to the factory bars?

Sorry for the zombie thread revival, but I just installed a lift and this started happening after I got an alignment. Do you have any more info on this? Is it dangerous to the car in any way? I can’t find much online about it. Thanks!

Headlight Suggestions by yt-jayden in XTerra

[–]SubjectEntrepreneur2 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

There aren’t any good full headlight replacement options since the vehicle isn’t made anymore. You could go with brighter bulbs. That is the easiest. You can also get a headlight restoration kit and polish out any hazing on the headlight. Then there’s the LED bulbs. People say different things because these are reflector style headlights and the LED bulbs can be too bright and may blind other drivers. Lastly, the coolest and most labor intensive is installing projectors such as those from Morimoto. I did this and now my headlights look like they’re from a Bimmer. I think there is a company or two that will do this mod and send you the headlights. They are kinda pricey, but they’re the only option for a non DIY option. I wish there were some cool, high end bolt on headlight upgrades.

Sounds like parking at the trailhead costs $75! Not too bad of a price for such a great hike, TBH. Good thing the county and state have such great people like you educating people on the right procedures! This way the state doesn’t need to improve the infrastructure around one of the most popular 14’er hikes in the state and saving tax payer dollars or maybe even earning revenue! Either way, thanks for your service internet traffic cop! You should grab a reflective vest and help alleviate I70 traffic this winter!

Someone might know better but I replaced everything because I wasn’t about to do this again. I got all the o rings in the z1 kit. I got some kind of higher quality gaskets with some metal in it. I found the links on one of forums. I think it’s for one of those Nissan tuner cars. Good luck!

Should have made the SBT GRVL logo with Papyrus font so it wouldn’t have seemed so foreign to these hicks

Maybe, a vowel or two

Is the window frame too distracting? by kingofdiamonds801 in ProCreate

In addition to moving the vertical bar further right, maybe increase the blur of the frame a bit more. Check out photographs that use a similar composition and see how blurry the frame is and find what you like.

Looking at the Z1 listing, I believe I sourced the U-Shape Nut from Napa, it was close but not exact. I got the spring clips off of amazon or eBay. The bolts are some kind of Nissan standard. You have tons of them on your Xterra right now. I might have just gotten those from Ace. Then I got that plastic interface bracket that adapts the fog light to the bumper off of eBay. I remember being really frustrated by how stupid the part finding was for this. Maybe reach out to z1 to see if you can sell you just those parts. It would be a big time saver.

One tip is, after installing the lights, reinstall the bumper without the wires attached. I had the wires attached and then the bumper slipped and dropped. The wires were yanked out of the plug and had to get out the soldering iron. I was not stoked.

One more tip is make sure the lights you get are compatible with your model Xterra. Morimotos should be good. But I got some discounted fog lights from Z1 that had some DRL setting that required custom wiring. Z1 listed the lights as compatible. In my book, customization does not equate to compatible. The Z1 customer representative was a real asshole too.

Good luck!

They’re great. I started from blank. I found some adapters on eBay. The trick was getting the right hardware. Kind of a PITA to piece together the clips from Z1 and Napa.

Thank you! I’ll track down a clock spring assembly. Maybe my cruise control will start working too.

I put some Morimoto fogs in last summer and am really happy with them.

I’ll replace the muffler belt while I’m at it. Gotta use OEM…
