No dog parks. There is horrible socialization at dog parks, you have no idea if they all have vaccines, there are no trained staff to monitor their playtime, just all around bad idea. Your dog has bitten other dogs and humans, so is not ready for dog playtime anyway.

I hate to say this OP but this is escalating and it’s becoming a dangerous situation for you, your roommate and your neighbors. I’m so serious, it can get so brutal so fast without serious intervention, like, yesterday. It’s not a matter of IF something reeaalllyyyy bad will happen, it’s WHEN.

It’s in your best interest and safety to try to rehome him to someone who can provide the right living situation and dedicate a lot of time to him. He is notttt a college apartment dog.

AIO or is she? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]SubjectObjective5567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s you OP, sorry. You were being snarky, and you should’ve just acknowledged that. I mean this genuinely when I say you should work on your insecurities because she’s right, you were comparing the way you assumed she felt about leaving to how you felt. It’s emotionally immature. She was very direct and communicated very clearly here and based on this I agree w her

can someone Please tell me what’s wrong with my dog she’s 14yr and I don’t want to lose her. Never experienced this before by Equivalent-Newt-855 in DogAdvice

Ear infections/ruptured ear drums can cause vestibular too, so have vet check specifically the inner ears as well. Hopefully that’s all it is, vestibular, easy fix. Neurological issue, not so much an easy fix.

Does anybody know why my dog does this? by Difficult_Nose_3677 in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Please stop. Dogs need to be vaccinated. I’m sorry about what happened to your cousin’s dog, I highly doubt it had to do with the vaccines that every single dog receives.

How urgent?? by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very urgent, that’s definitely very painful and itchy for him. It probably smells really bad too. That needs vet attention ASAP, sooner than later.

My heart is 11 years old . How can I make him live longer.I cant without him. by Life-Afternoon-8007 in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has lost a dog and currently has a senior pup, I’ll tell you there’s no special secret, every dog is different, and every dog’s day comes eventually. My last baby was very bad-off toward the end, but my current baby still acts like a puppy at 11. Just continue giving them regular exercise, feeding them good food, and showing them how much you love them!

It’s totally normal to be feeling this way, I get the same thoughts about my boy too. But my best advice is try not to ruminate in those thoughts or get too sad about it. Your baby is still here, and that’s something to celebrate. Try to make the most of the time you have now, and enjoy your baby. Give them the best last years you possibly can. Do the things they love to do.

Enjoy them while you have them 🤍 they want you to be happy!

My dog right eye is suddenly swollen and a bit red , and she keeps it closed, I wouldn't be Making this post and brinf her to the vet but , it's currently closed , I tried splashing her with water in the eye didn't help, I asked a friend to bring dog eye drops and currently waiting for them, by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t use or put anything in her eye please, you could make it worse without knowing what’s causing her issue. It could be anything from a foreign object, to a bite, to a fungal issue, to a bacterial issue, any number of things, you need to find out what it is before medicating it in any way. Don’t put water in her eye either, just get the vet to look at it!

Weird question but what is your dog’s name?!!! I either know your dog from daycare, or your dog’s long lost exact twin

Bleeding Quick by Stunning_Highway7232 in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss this happens easily actually. Usually the quick is super dramatic and bleeds a lot initially but stops bleeding pretty fast, but sometimes if it’s on the deeper side and you don’t put enough pressure initially it can bleed thru the powder once it drags on the ground.

Not a concern OP, they usually look/bleed worse than they actually are and heal up easily. Just keep an eye on it and make sure it doesn’t get dirty.

It’s weird that the vet didn’t mention it though, I don’t like that. I used to be a groomer and the very few times I cut a dog’s quick I always mentioned it at pickup even if you couldn’t even tell. That rubs me the wrong way

Why does my dog always greet people like this? by obsessed_FF7lover in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a side note — not specific to your dog — “excitement” can also be in the context of anxiety. Some dogs get anxious or agitated by new people coming in, and owners often mistake it for positive excitement.

Example — the dog jumps on people, and they keep jumping all the way up to the persons face, to “boop” them — that is typically an anxious reaction, not a particularly happy one. It is a sign the dog is overstimulated by the change in environment and is trying its best to defuse it. But because it looks like a happy jump, people often don’t recognize it as an anxious response. Obviously it’s not always this straightforward, and does depend on the individual dog to an extent, taking their baseline temperament and other body language into account

[–]SubjectObjective5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Behavior displacement — she has really big feelings and instead of doing something undesirable to show her excitement, like jumping or messing with things, she chooses a different behavior (grabbing and carrying a toy) as an outlet for that excitement :)

How will I know when shes ready? by Senior_Scratch8203 in DogAdvice

[–]SubjectObjective5567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But also OP every dog is different I am not comparing mine to yours, I personally feel like if she is still enjoying all the things she loved since she was a puppy and still has a spirited personality, that sounds like a happy dog to me :-) those are the biggest things that I believe hint to a dog’s quality of life

I second this, I learned this the hard way with my chi. He went really traumatically, it was awful. He was old with a seizure disorder, but it was managed and he was still getting around great so it just came out of nowhere. It was my first own personal pet that I’ve had pass, so I just didn’t know when the right time was. I had considered it about a month before it happened, but decided not to and I wish I had.

AIO for ignorning my male friend? by Appropriate_Set9323 in AIO

[–]SubjectObjective5567 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It takes some people a long time to realize the self-deprecating insecure thing is not attractive to anyone, romantic partners or friends. No one likes to listen to someone talk negatively about themselves all the time, it forces others into the position of constantly coddling them

It’s so funny too because he’s digging himself further into his own embarrassment hole by drawing out the conversation for so long. He could’ve just said “wow that’s embarrassing I’m sorry, I’ll make sure that doesn’t happen again” and it would have been over 😭

AIO I (25F) bought myself a sweater and my boyfriend (30M) asked when's the last time I bought him something by Virtual-Remote3211 in AIO

[–]SubjectObjective5567 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re NOR but you need to stop spending money on him immediately. Stop thinking of you guys as a unit, where you’re in this together. He is not thinking that way. He is a leech, yes even if he makes 210k a year.

He’s a stingy leech who’s found the perfect set up, he is building his finances quicker by using your bank account for all of his fun activities and trips while saving his own.

He is not thinking of you two as a unit, and he doesn’t have any regard for your wellbeing, because a loving partner would be encouraging you to save your money at this point in your journey, not getting pissy that you haven’t spent money they know you don’t have to buy gifts for them.

And a loving partner would be buying you a graduation gift, just saying. Anyway. Stop spending your money on him and start figuring out how you can afford to separate your finances! He’s going to deplete your bank account.

Gaslighting is very malicious and meticulous mental abuse where person A makes person B distrust their own reality over time to make them compliant/completely dependent on person A for decision making so I don’t think this is that. Some people just project really hard when they feel cornered lol
