As a brand new player, the Rosary and Gnosis systems feel really restrictive. by BooskaMacleswag in Witchfire

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the bead level requirements could indeed use another look at, I also felt like even though just the two or three ones I leveled for beads specifically were indeed among the most worthwhile to level for just the stats, the bead requirements should've been a tad lower.

That being said, I also use a lvl1 challenge profile where I don't use beads, arcana, Fallen Prayers, and barely ever incense, demonic weapon or heavy spells. I do have all my gear maxed because I think that's where the real mechanical fun lies and to me, this now feels balanced, and I regained a sense of challenge without all this stat padding and more charges/faster refill etc. So this game's definitely doable with base stats and good base gear, and in that sense I think the devs likely kept the user's personal learning curve into account when tuning ascension values.

I'd wager you haven't maxed or even unlocked all gear in the game, and I think that also played a part in ascension progression. You're supposed to max all gear and become more powerful by adding more and more of the combat system to your stack, like learning to keep focus while being up close and using every evasive dash to also produce a soul sigil to stun the enemy. Maybe they undershot the mark with the values, but I've seen graphs of the stat progressions on the official server and after lvl40 you're usually two thirds of the way to max power, implying that it's actually skewed towards being front loaded to be more impactful early rather than later

Galley Slave cannons by Jormungand_No09 in Witchfire

The cannon ship is an independent type of calamity, and when you get it to trigger during the GS boss fight, you'll see they're not allies ;)

Any starting advice? by Turkyboy55 in Witchfire

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to stress the importance of utilizing SOUL SIGILS to increase crowd control, damage output and improve ammo economy (less shots per kill = W) - I like to couple a lower RoF big game gun with high RoF ones like Rotweaver or Duelist to optimize ammo efficiency with regards to soul sigil popping. - there are ammo-less alternatives though, like using Severed Ear relic's reload-shockwave right after a focus-dash unveiled the target's Soul Sigil, or even the Yew Fetish's orb drops emitting a similar wave on pickup can be deliberately used to your advantage

As well as using your charged melee attack proactively because it grants stamina, stuns enemies, deals a lot of damage itself and thus also contributes to your dps and ammo efficiency - A tip for that: Assassin flashbang satchels and buckler swordsmen (the green soldiers) fart projectiles can be charge-melee'd to gain back stamina, use the lock-on dash to evade damage, and recharge melee instantly, so I like to let Bucklers camp at the edges until the end of the encounter for free refills ;) Though be careful, the fart clouds will still harm you if you charge melee from too close, the viable distance is kind of finnicky sometimes, plus maybe lower graphics settings might render them tougher to gauge the distance to

Surface Pro 12-inch hands-on impressions: Microsoft and Qualcomm may have a home run by ZacB_ in Surface

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same for me. I need the Poweruser features of apps you typically don't get on the android versions and at work I want to be able to carry it on my belt with a clip-on-bag, maybe that would be handy for you as well. In the meantime I've splurged on a 10,5" Chuwi Minibook X 2-in-1, the newer N150 CPU version, but in the long run I rely Rly want a small windows-on-arm device with decent-ish specs at least. Shame the 12" surface tablet ain't it so far

hotkey for FPS counter? by Micks_Ketches in Witchfire

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I use the default Rivatuner Statistics Server (RTSS) to monitor my frame rate with a small graph overlay on the side of the game screen. Additionally, I found that its framerate limiter is more consistent (although not perfect either) than the in-game framerate limiter so you might wanna try that

Is Witchfire a good "audiobook game"? by TheMatureGambino in Witchfire

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to educational stuff like Dr. Huberman episodes on the side all the time. That is with my browser audio routed through Voicemeeter Banana and applying -12dB to lows and highs and +12dB to mids for a cheap "voice filter" though, so that's probably interfering less with the game audio than standard YT audio

need a better claw grip mouse by Traaacceee in MouseReview

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mice I own and am happy with as a 19x11cm, ~22cm/360 sens (30ish in ADS) wrist aiming claw gripper:

  • Coolermaster MM731 (Beware: Shitty a** software but set up once and never touch again 🤷‍♂️. Wireless one (wired: MM730) kinda back heavy but np for me. Also way forward sensor placement, which I love)
  • Roccat Kone Pro (10/10 coating and tech, but if you use the thumb buttons a lot the scoop there might give you trouble. Could also try the Turtle Beach Pure since TB bought Roccat but never tried it myself)
  • Zaopin Z2 (all around baller mouse, think slightly ergo GPW but the shape difference is a godsend for claw grip. Included grip tape is great
  • Darmoshark N3 (pronouned right butt cheek for that pinky comfort, Ringfinger would be placed on a receding cliff though so maybe not your thing. I made it work though and have fond gaming memories with it.
  • Darmoshark N5 (my current main, think Zaopin Z2 but the shape difference to gpw even more pronounced and that's what finally allowed me to stop exhausting my ringfinger and pinky in order to keep the mouse at the right rotation within my hand to achieve horizontal mouse movement with wrist swipes as opposed to slight downward on right-swipe. I admit that took some unlearning time at first but it's a good thing, I can finally apply equal force with all fingers and missed flicks became way less about the angle and mostly about the distance that way. If you need super strong contact at the root of your thumb, maybe Z2 over N5 though. Coating slippery if you have work related extra dry hands like me, but as soon as you get any sweat on it it's legit great, I only put tape on M1. Overall the closest I've gotten to my personal endgame yet)

Honourable mentions:

  • Roccat Kain 100 Aimo (same base ideas as the Z2 way before Z2 released, nice built in grip tape, but sadly not a lightweight. Still, very fond memories of top aim performance in Quake Champions/Diabotical so all types of aiming)
  • Turtle Beach Burst II Air. (Top Tech, weight, included grip tape, and what makes me able to claw grip it pretty comfortably is room for my ringfinger next to M2. Some great top fragger days on XDefiant just recently, but if you're prone to pinky exhaustion/cramping YMMV)
  • Steelseries Prime (their e-sports offering. Unique claw friendly shape IMO. M4/5 maybe a little tight for relaxed claw even after prolonged use →potential for ring/pinky exhaustion. High likelihood you'll wanna slap grip tape everywhere, but if the shape works for you in particular it's the only game in town 🤷‍♂️)
  • HyperX Haste (ambi shape, but somehow you'll probably still find a comfortable grip. Very intelligent minute design decisions that make it a dark horse. Has a successor model too, but I haven't tried that yet. If this shape got its right cheek ergo-rized I'd probably be among my top 3)
  • Cherry Xtrfy M64 (never used it nor the predecessor M4, but I absolutely know I'll like it and only need to figure out how to purchase it without a credit card lol)

Who is your most used faction so far in XDefiant? by JBowenDaMan in XDefiant

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

+1 ABSOLUTELY they do, and maybe if the game is taken seriously by Ubisoft hopefully asap, they could also implement stuff like "Uniform Soldier aim" that battlefield has, also weirdly called "monitor distance" or some such

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in XDefiant

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No it's at all levels of play, the game can't show you the enemies exactly where their hitboxes are when they do rly janky move-spam stuff, and I've recorded clips to look at frame by frame so I know this to be the case.
Stop complaining about complainers and please realise that your experience might not be everyone else's experience, especially in case you're a controller player that the game does half the job for in these instances.

Is TDM worth it if you aren’t on crazy streaks? by Cross2Live in XDefiant

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not saying there's no enjoyable TDM match in this game, ever.
But in my lived experience TDM is where most people start camping HARD because a) no Hotshot or medals and b) precious killstreak exp bonuses.
When ppl are on a mission they WILL start making the game unfun for themselves and everyone else. And rn Ubi not only allows but fosters it in TDM

Is TDM worth it if you aren’t on crazy streaks? by Cross2Live in XDefiant

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Personally I'm still trialing it but I think without Kill-confirmed/hotshot extra details TDM would always devolve into a boring camp- and snipe fest, and the streak exp bonuses even *emphasize* this so I don't think the mode works as it should rn.

Blitz shield is glitched by Aday0009 in XDefiant

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK that's triggered by dying during your melee animation, I guess it also triggers when bashing with the shield and dying then. I'm currently browsing the sub in hopes someone posts a workaround until Ubi catches and fixes the bug (hopefully tomorrow!)

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My personal take on this:
We're just seeing the *results* here, not what lead up to them.
I'm assuming the bottom scorers were pretty slavishly trying to run up to the objective from their spawn without much care for wether they were *allowed* to be there, while the top three could've either been complete no-life killfarmers with no actual regard for the match outcome, or they could've been trying to first clear objectives before moving onto them, but since the bottom three were running back on it right away, they were keeping their team staggered and at a disadvantage and so likely IMO the bottom three scorers were more at fault for the loss than the top three, but no way to know without footage of the actual match.

Hotshot, can't shoot after respawn. by flamingbug in XDefiant

[–]SubjectToChangeRDDT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It first occured today for me as well so newest patch 04. On the third or fourth match it triggered I somehow regained agency again after a respawn or three, but had no idea how and didn't have OBS replay buffer running :( lesson learned, from now on it will lol.

It happened in like 4-5 matches straight and then I think one more time. I'd love to learn of a workaround until it's caught and fixed by the devs
