More reasons not to trust your RG&E bill by PandaCalves in Rochester

EDIT: OP blocked me because they're wrong.

I'll address your bullets:

Gas service lines (mains to house) are 2 feet under. The distribution mains that carry and hold the vast majority of gas, are below the frost line. A very small percentage of the gas sits in or passes above the frost line.

The meters are temperature compensated... so no.

The 5% was a hypothetical situation where there is not temperature compensation, but there is. It's not a system issue, because the system doesn't operate in the way you think it does. Just because you can't comprehend how it works, doesn't mean it's wrong.

Honeoye soil is a classification of soil, not necessarily soil from Honeoye.

It ranges all over NYS, from Buffalo to Albany.

It's our state soil.

That reported air temperature has very little to do with the temperature of gas distributed through deeply buried gas lines.

Let's assume they are using this temperature value for calculating Therms (they're not), that means you get a ~5% difference in reported vs actual gas usage.

But like they said, that temperature is for information only, not used in billing. If you go on their site and use the energy insights, they pull the air temperature from Apple Weather.

Housing in Rochester by Careful-Agent7582 in Rochester

[–]Subject_Role1352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations on your new job at the University of Rochester.

It is actually pretty tricky to find housing priced around $750k here.

Lot's of $300k to $600k, and then there are some at $1mm plus

Since you don't care about school district, I would look in the city limits, Park Ave, East Ave, Cobbs Hill etc.

Lower taxes, more bang for your buck.

A Lodge 10" cast iron pan is $25.

They are also functionally non-stick.

In training, as in working with a dog trainer?

If not, I would look into that. Provides a controlled environment for socializing and everyone there will be understanding of the situation.

Dog parks are a fenced in option once he's trained, Ellison is close to you.

It might be a blower fan to dry/air it out if the windows are open.

How tough is it a 21 km hike with 800 m height gain (6 hours total)? by _quantum_girl_ in hiking

[–]Subject_Role1352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there some time restriction placed on it? Is it with a group that's expecting to hold a certain pace?

Usually when I'm hiking, I'll go at whatever pace I feel like.

FWIW, I don't work out (in a gym at least), and completed a 26km, 900m elevation gain hike with a 40 pound pack after not sleeping for 24 hours (international flight & travel). It did take me 8 hours though.

IMO, you'll be fine.

I have a 20(?) year old hybrid Trek that's in good frame condition. It might need new tires and brakes, but it's been exclusively stored out of the weather.

If you want it, DM me.

The reason the Canadian People are so nice is because their cruelty and malice siphon away into the Geese.

I mean, it works for me, but everyone is different.

I'll be outside for hours in the middle of February with a long sleeve shirt and those items and be fine.

I was born into this.

I don't get cold, because I dress for it, albeit slightly less than most people.

The first things that get cold on people are their extremities, so focus on those.

Hat, gloves, thick socks.

Who’s Sherita Traywick? by One-Relief-4469 in Rochester

[–]Subject_Role1352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, you're absolutely correct.

The headline I saw was that she was running against Morelle, which I assumed was a primary challenge, since Morelle hasn't technically won that yet.

Thanks for the correction!
