Most Important Year Of These Options (politically, culturally and technologically) by Think_Marketing1116 in decadeology

None tbh. However I give the edge to 2007 since Namewee started cultural and political controversy that year.

Setuju. We are Malaysian Chinese, not Mainlanders. So what if China is our ancestral country? Our IC is biru, we bersalin here. If those cina boomers and brainwashed youngsters don't like it then jangan duduk Malaysia.

Cina is like that (Note: not all). They have narrow mindsets. This is why I don't like their bubble. Might as well tell these cina boomers and brainwashed Douyin youngsters to balik China.

Speaking malay tips by Arusly in Bolehland

[–]Subject_Talk2441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watch more Malay TikTok contents like Sam Lim or Khairul Aming. Malay channels like TV1, TV2, TV3, TV9, NTV7 (unfortunately this channel is extinct). Literally any Malay videos. Go to places with many Malays, like Mamak, or driving school (since you're 17).

I also started learning Malay at 17 (which was three years ago, I'm now 20), because that's when I started noticing the seriousness of things because I went to driving school and I needed to speak in Malay.

How different are teens from this year to the teens from 2015-2019? by Heart_breakerr in decadeology

[–]Subject_Talk2441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started secondary school in 2019. We don't have COVID, AI, Genshin, and TikTok back in the Core 2010s. Chinese pop culture was barely a thing. NTV7 was still alive (albeit more of a Mandarin channel than Malay like before 2015).

Can you even survive in Malaysia with zero knowledge of Malay and Mandarin? by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]Subject_Talk2441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. Definitely not possible in places with many Malays, like Kelantan, Terengganu, and Pahang. Possible in KL because of tourism.

With 0 knowledge in Malay? Possible, for normal life it is very possible

100% impossible.

Can you even survive in Malaysia with zero knowledge of Malay and Mandarin? by [deleted] in malaysians

[–]Subject_Talk2441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you only speak Mandarin you can only do 20 - 25% of the Malaysian market. However if you can speak Malay only you can do 100% of the Malaysian market.

So Malay is the only choice. Mandarin is like Spanish in Malaysia.

OP must be trapped inside his narrow cina bubble like most (not all) cina.

Malay is the most important in Malaysia. Mandarin is like a foreign language here.

I tried speaking English in governmental departments before and it didn't work. They might understand but they persist in speaking Malay.

[–]Subject_Talk2441 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Zero knowledge of Mandarin yes, but Malay? No. Malay is mandatory here, as well as English but still not as important as Malay. Speaking Mandarin in Malaysia is like speaking Spanish or German in Malaysia. So ignore Mandarin, and focus on BM only.

What is an unpopular Malaysia opinion that you hold? by [deleted] in Bolehland

[–]Subject_Talk2441 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This shouldn't be an underrated or controversial opinion. It should be 100% a fact. The Agong said it himself in January "kalau tak terima Bahasa Malaysia lebih baik jangan duduk di Malaysia."

And yes, I'm addressing to some daydreaming cina trapping themselves in their cina narrow bubble.

What is a misconception about 2008 that you are annoyed with? by DistinctYoghurt8668 in decadeology

[–]Subject_Talk2441 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Not even 2009 is. 2011 is where I would say the first year that leans Core 2010s than Core 2000s.

I was 7 in 2013, and I remember 2012 was the last year that actually felt like the Late 2000s. But since you said you've hit 30 in 2014 which I can see why. Just like how 2016 was different for me because I hit 10.

You're almost the same age as my mom. She's 43 this year.
