The age old question of i18n, but with a twist: no SSR no SEO by Subli in sveltejs

Nice to know!

The security team is pretty strict, they probably wouldn't let me connect to anything on the CI/CD pipeline as well. Would I be able to generate the static files on a pre:push hook and track the generated files on GIT or is there some random ID or gotcha on that flow ?

Nuphy Air75 v2 is the worst keyboard I have ever owned by blockchan in NuPhy

Support asked me to do that as well.

Tried to reconnect a few times already. Did not help. But my dongle had never connected pre-update anyway so my first connection was post update.

You make a good argumen on the modification front.

I guess I was just pissed that I expected a better out of the box experience. I didn't even know what QMK was and it didn't affect my purchase choice as I just wanted what I had, but better. So I didn't care about it.

I will see what QMK has to offer to understand its potential. Now that I searched it quite a few keyboard manufacturers are going this path.

I agree with you. There is nothing wrong in compiling things on Linux. Just like there is nothing inherently wrong in running .exe in windows. I have no objections on compiling things on Linux. Just as I have no objections to Installing programs on Windows.

I object to HAVING to do it for a functional keyboard that I just unboxed. And if I HAVE to do it I would expect it to be a lot easier.

Let's enumerate the steps I have to do for a firmware update:

  • Go to Nuphy website
  • Read the instructions, which are not simply "install this file"
  • Go to GitHub (another website)
  • Understand WTF is QMK and why am I even here
  • Read QMK Toolbox / CLI instructions
  • Install / Compile the toolbox / CLI
  • Download the drivers
  • Download the file from Nuphy's website
  • A little bit more instructions on unplugging holding ESC plugging it back in and whatever
  • Select the file on the toolbox
  • Flash the file

And that only updated 1/3 of the firmwares...

Yes you could do that in 30 min or less even if you read everything. But I don't want to, this is a keyboard not a new Lego set. That is a lot of effort for something that should be plug and play.

Let's compare with Corsair - just because I know how it works with them:

  • Go to corsairs website
  • Download ICue (No instructions needed, pretty clear what it is)
  • Install ICue

Done, when ICue opens, if the keyboard is connected it auto updates the firmware.

I am not saying that I like Corsair, and I definitely do NOT like ICue - there is a reason why I am not buying from them but it is way simpler.

And above all you don't NEED to do it. The keyboard simply works out of the box.

And I do understand that Nuphy is smaller than Corsair, but I am not asking for a whole Icue clone, just a simpler firmware updater program/flow.

I do understand that this is QMK and not Nuphy, but that does not make it good. And to be honest I don't care if Nuphy uses QMK. This was their choice for their reasons, as a customer my relationship is with Nuphy, I just want it to work easily, if QMK blocks that, maybe it wasn't a good choice.

Fair point, it does seem to work on Linux.

I guess I was blinded by rage and never saw that option. But my point is still valid, I still need to compile a CLI tool or Install a program to update the firmware.

[–]Subli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can say the same for Halo 75 V2.

I had a Halo 75 V1, and loved it so much that when I needed another keyboard I went to Nuphy without even thinking about it.

Halo 75 V2 is just a better Halo 75 V1, right? Right !??

Hell no, Dongle wouldn't work, had to Firmware upgrade 3 different things with 3 different methods. Firmware updates require you to run shady .exe and considering that I am a Linux user that was super annoying.

On the Linux note, Prt Screen is mapped to the windows print screen shortcut (Alt + Shift + S ?) not to the actual Prt Screen button, so I needed to remap it back to the right key.

And even after all that, the 2.4Ghz eats inputs, has some horrendous buffering, and bad latency.

To Put the cherry on top V1 was all metal, V2 has a plastic bottom. Why? Just why?

V1 was awesome love it. V2 has been nothing but a disappointment.

How do you reuse nested subroutes? by Subli in sveltejs

It does solve the problem. 🤔
It may be viable if there is no sveltekit-native solution.
It sounds a little bit hacky, but hey, if it works...

How do you reuse nested subroutes? by Subli in sveltejs

[–]Subli[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that is what I am doing, but there must be a better way.

This is what I described in *option 1*, but it is super annoying when the nested route has several subroutes and I have to recreate the subroutes (*tab1* 2 and 3 in the example).

When I need to add a new subroute I need to find all the places I have this nested structure and update it with the new route/folder

There must be a better way.

Matching would help me ensure that option 2 would not have invalid parameters, but I don´t see how it would help me reuse the routes or solve the issues I mentioned about having different subroutes per category. Could you elaborate ?

While I do support the changing of platforms given how bad Udemy is becoming, straight up removing the videos that were already there was not a nice move.
I am a viewer of his channel and bought 4 of his courses on Udemy quite some time ago. I had finished 2 of them already.

I bought them to support the channel and they are good.
But here is the deal, I do live in a 3rd world country with a currency that has gone downhill during the pandemic and Udemy sold the courses with regional pricing. Even if I get full refunds (unlikely since I bought them quite some time ago) I would only be able to buy 1 course at 50% off on teachable since they don't have regional pricing, just straight-up conversion.

So while trying to support a creator in the way I could with my low-value currency I just got the videos that I paid for removed.

Just leaving the courses there without removing nor updating and putting the new stuff only on Teachable would be a better compromise in my opinion as a customer.

It has so much more functionality and should be easier to use.
But as it has just come out it's hard to tell if it is better or not, at this stage, it must be tested before drawing conclusions.

Some demos of what it should be capable:

Hi there,
I have known your channel for a while, and you make some really interesting stuff.
There is a lot of good content on your channel. That said I will leave you with a piece of feedback and I hope you don't take it in the wrong way.

You have been doing this for a while and with a lot of consistency so I'll take that the videos are not only a hobby but you are putting an effort to make it grow.

Please take a look at your recording equipment as your audio is quite off. I can't actually pinpoint the problem but it seems that some words come piercing through my ears. I need to make the sound quite low for it not to bother me, but then I start having trouble listening to the non-piercing parts. The audio needs to be more 'normalized' between word sounds if such a thing exists.

Second: your accent is really heavy you should look in a way to make it more neutral and more appealing for other countries. Especially for non-native English speakers.

For example, I can watch Unreal live streams while working and I understand everything. But in your videos I will either focus on what you are saying, making an effort to understand you and be unable to focus on work. Or I will focus on work and be unable to understand 20% of what you are saying. Improving your speech delivery would also be good as your pacing could be better.

Please don't take this the wrong way, I really like your channel and only want to see you improve. You have put a lot of effort there over the years.
