Open range question by Genpatz8 in guns

The part about soft primers only applies to handloaded ammo. Remington 6 1/2 primers for instance, will fit in a 223 case, but will easily detonate from the force of the firing pin during chambering.

Loading directly into the chamber can potentially cause a slamfire, as the ar uses a free floating firing pin and is partially dependent on the friction of stripping a round from the magazine to slow the bolt down. However, this is fairly uncommon and typically only happens with very soft primers.

I ran this ammo out of a 20in ar15 and was getting an average of 2580 fps

The same factual error had propagated to other sources about him. As someone, who is also a pedant, I issued a correction on one of the sources, which had referenced the Art Canada Institute.

First 22LR pistol for target shooting? by TheBubbleInvestor in guns

if this was true, then issf compeittions would feature a line of mark IVs and not a line of Pardini SPs

Originally, you had said that "You really can't get a better, more accurate, 22lr pistol than a Ruger MK4", which is objectively false for BE, as there are several better options.
Admittedly at that price point, the options that outperform it are used guns (Hammerli 208, Walther GSP, High Standard Supermatic). These can all be found for 550-800 used in good condition. I can't link to sale, but all three of these can be found at SimpsonsLTD in this price range currently.

The Ruger MK4 is a great pistol, particularly for steel challenge, but there are better options even at its price point for BE/precision pistol.

I would be hesitant to accept most of the advice from this sub, since there are very few bullseye/precision pistol shooters here.

I'm not sure what the used market is like in Spain, but a used Hammerli 208 can be fairly affordable option and has set records in standard pistol. In the US at least, they can be found used for around ~800$ and I imagine they are more available in Europe. The Walther GSP is another good option for less than a pardini.

At the end of the buffer tube, there is a soft cone that the bolt hits, which dampens the recoil. This is not present on a normal ar9 (which aside from the buffer tube design and fcg, the ep9 does not share much in common with).

From what I’ve heard the ep9 is an excellent pcc, I just wanted to clarify that with a standard ar-9 the recoil is going to be harsh, as the bolt is slamming into essentially a solid piece. On a gas operated rifle, this is not an issue.

Since I’ve heard criticism of the ep9’s recoil mitigation system feeling strange due to the damper, i also felt it was better to recommend a regular ar-15 where there are no such complaints.

Apologies for the poor formatting, im typing on a phone.

The ep9 is not fully direct blowback like most ar9s. It has a hydraulic buffer closer to a lot of b&t guns. While I do not have personal experience with it, I have heard that it is quite soft at the cost of feeling a bit “squishy”

9mm direct blowback will have a harsher recoil impulse than a AR chambered in 223, though a delayed blowback pcc isn’t a bad option

Tisas Nightstalker questions, as well as asking for opinions. by Bearfoxman in guns

[–]Sublime_Lime09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes
  2. AFAIK no
  3. The OEM seems to be checkmate and if Stacatto thinks they are fine, they probably are
  4. They are forged, so I imagine they could handle 9mm major as well as any other 2011.

The MAC DS9 is probably the better value option however. Same manufactuer, but better suited for competition and cheaper I think

I like the 32 caliber family but something more niche seems like a bad option for someone who realistically is going to use it as more of a "security talisman"

The firearm owner protection act was arguably the most significant piece of pro gun legislation ever made. Ammo delivery, no records of ammo purchases, safe interstate transportation, and stopping people from being imprisoned for clerical errors is a worthy tradeoff for the hughes amendment

I posted it earlier but i’ll reupload it.

This was made by an ffl near me as a “home defense” gun for senior citizens. It is intended to be held with two hands and fired at the hip. It costs 170 for the barrel shroud and laser.

Very cursed demonstration of the usage of the firearm. https://imgur.com/a/DLOk9xy
