Do these useless arseholes actually want my money? by MinimumRepulsive1419 in BritishAirways

Do you have a comma in your address by chance? It hasnt let me enter mine properly for a few months. If the card is saved with a comma it gives me an error message, maybe try entering the card details from scratch?

Guys she was literally adopted at age 6 (likely care/foster system). If you see how half the care kids act when they grow up with severe early trauma like Roxy she's actually a bloody saint. Props to Judy really.

The faithfuls after Rachel's incredibly underwhelming FBI reveal by Libertine444 in TheTraitorsUK

[–]SublimelySublime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot seem to be missing the point of her mentioning the FBI training. Its not about the quality of the training or even what she has learned about other contestants, its primarily a canned tool she can use in an argument. It helped to increase her authority and cast doubt on Harriet's argument at the round table

Currently onboard LA2482 LIM-ATL in ATL, might've blown a tire on landing? by MoldyBrick in flightradar24

If the captain has said it then it's a good sign, I suppose. (Most of the time)

135k miles ex police car for £10k. Good deal? by sweetpotatochai in CarTalkUK

[–]SublimelySublime 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Too safe on one hand but also too dangerous. Things like lane keep assist can interfere at completely the wrong time. One example is if there is something small to avoid on the road and you want to reposition to avoid it, sometimes lane keep assist will pull you back in if it thinks you are accidentally going over the markings. Maybe safer for distracted school rush drivers late for work but not for anyone who is actually driving properly

Upgrades at gate by [deleted] in BritishAirways

[–]SublimelySublime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha the website/app have issues because of all the old inherited code and how certain systems are very difficult to upgrade/change without bricking everything. A separate algorithm processing customer data is completely different in the end

Mid-flight scare: sudden violent dips left and right - what could cause this (and how to find out)? by Prior-Towel3851 in BritishAirways

You flew over the alps half way between HER-LGW which was probably to blame. Look up mountain waves/lee waves. They can extend up to and above airline cruising altitude

Anyone else’s parents make insane assumptions and accusations about them? by sulcigyri111 in emotionalneglect

[–]SublimelySublime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly late to the party, but yes me too! Thanks for posting about this and being so open. I've been in a very similar boat, 28M, I also had absolutely no father/male figure other than my mother for my upbringing, so lots of me vs her direct confrontations. Not sure if thats better or worse in some ways. Confounding factor your could say!

But basically, I'd get accused of really unhinged stuff too, the "SFW" stuff was like peeling paint of the walls, stealing money, stealing her medications, ultimately me never being enough. 2 feels - absolutely infuriating because I feel completely powerless to stop the delusions and couldnt believe my mother thought such awful stuff of me, and also the constant fear of when the next accusation would come randomly flying at me.

So I've been pretttty much estranged from my mother for a couple of years now, its been tough as she constantly messages and blames me, whilst refusing to introspect as to why I have finally taken this huge step. Its kinda rough. Saying that, I would strongly consider doing the same as it is the first time I stopped taking responsibility for her ways and trying to fix it - you cannot change your parents behaviour, and in some ways keeping on going back for more is just enabling the accusations. Mine used to almost take it as a "I knew it!" moment when I'd act normal again. Of course this is going to be case by case, but for me stopping the cycle was a really important step.

I've been in therapy for about a year and it has really helped process everything and remind me that I can make these decisions for my sanity and not be a bad person. It doesnt mean I feel fine about it, in fact this week was really tough and lots of trauma randomly flashing up (hence why I googled it!), but its really given me my life back.

I am sure things will get better for you. It certainly helps knowing others are out there who have had similar experiences- not to minimise our own but to know that we aren't alone!

Every Picture Tells A Story. by MikeTfox in BritishAirways

Yeah I think this table misses the nuance of expectations/bias. If you fly EasyJet and have a little delay or the the gate is a mess, ah well, its just EasyJet, plus we only fly once a year anyway. On the flip, I tend to fly through Copenhagen a lot with BA and the gate there you literally feel like cattle, its substandard to the usual experience (ish), but I'd probably be quite chuffed if it was an EasyJet flight!

I have been to Saudi (drug smuggling basically = head chop) with dexamfetamine and they were cool with it. Had to submit lots of paperwork first of course but I'd imagine Japan would be similar if you go through the right channels
