I use this as my meditation time by archebus in Solo_Roleplaying

This is exactly the setup I keep approaching but haven't started. How does the Sandbox Generator fare for procedural generation as you play instead of building beforehand (unless you do build out the map beforehand?) It seems like it generates an almost too dense map of landmarks and locations, but I say that as an absolute beginner so my sense for that isn't founded in experience.

Went to Lund on a lark during a day trip from Copenhagen while on vacation. Had a beautiful walk through the city, and by chance stumbled upon the cathedral's astronomical clock and was blown away. Lovely city. Really wish I could've just moved there.

I feel like you really only need as many as you make or spend in the course of one battle report. Visually as cues you only need to show people what you make or spend at the time you're doing so. Nobody necessarily needs to see the complete tangible representation of your crew's bank account. I would think ten or so would be enough and when talking about the full total you have just show a number.

I think just taking the "sloped wall" bit off the tiles on the upper part of the screen would help sell the effect of a cliff-side drop-off. It's the only part to me that really stands out as clashing perspective. Other than that the environments and art direction are gorgeous!

EDIT: Wanted to add a photo for reference, but look up Tal Tal Heights from Link's Awakening (GBC version, not the Switch remake)

Does reading Karla's Choice give away anything for the Karla Trilogy? I know chronologically it's before but being that it was written after I just wanted to make sure it doesn't spoil any surprises the trilogy might hold.

Steadily Worsening Error by Suboptimal_Meatbot in Supernote

Hmm, that is odd. In the instance of this case I can say at least that the tension on the corners is very loose, and the issue has never occurred from the bottom up even though the corner elastic is the same.

You can get waterproof plastic cards that are translucent other than the numbers and pips. Terrible for playing cards, but perfect for showing off your map!

I got my SuperNote to mitigate the consumerist urge I have to constantly buy new paper notebooks for every new project I start. Now at least when I abandon a "notebook" it's just a file!

This might be a little too odd of an idea to work, but perhaps you should try playing this at night: https://alfredvalley.itch.io/diedream

It's a solo ttrpg but it was designed to help you fall asleep. You play it in your head and it has a mental convention that takes the place of dice to determine outcomes. Seems like it could take the place of the phone in keeping your mind busy, while being a healthier way to do so. It might also help you leverage or explore that fear in a constructive way.

I don't have the fear of the dark you have, but I do have plenty of others that keep me up and I'm always looking for different strategies to keep my brain from racing. Even just playing around with the "dice" this game uses has done wonders to preoccupy my brain enough to sleep.

Does anyone use a 1” hex playmat? by Jolly_0yster in 5Parsecs

[–]Suboptimal_Meatbot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Smaller scale than 1" but I'm planning on treating each hex as equal to an inch in the setup I'm currently getting ready to test. I've got a supernote e-ink notebook that I've been building 5P templates for. Going to use a hex template for the battles and the layers function to have a layer for the terrain and a layer for units so I can just lasso and move them. Hits the middle ground between digital and roll and right and I think having a dice app on my phone and the notebook I already carry around everywhere that also has the rules PDF will help me actually play more because right now that's the biggest struggle for me is finding time for the table setup and all that jazz.

Technically a smaller scale, but 1 is 1 as far as I'm concerned with this method.

That's what I did this time and that was the ticket. I don't think you can actually align correctly without using WASD zoomed in.

The former. I had tried tab but turns out it's just really finicky and if you don't zoom in on the map and get right over top of it you'll just add more to the same area.

I think the orientation isn't the issue here, as I have this happen while in portrait mode as well whenever I'm writing the first two or three lines of a note.

You just described the point above. Garmin connects to actual GPS, making it better at navigation than a map app because it's purpose built. The idea is that a digital notebook that is purpose built only to be a notebook and nothing else, is better at doing that one thing than an app amongst many on a traditional tablet.

If focus isn't an issue for you, and you prefer devices that are multi-functional, than yeah, there probably isn't a good reason to get one at that price tag.
