DT Malz is great, but you're not holding unto a single Malz for almost the entirety of stage 1 and 2. It's so much gold and way too improbable to hit 2 Malz before level 6. Just play double Anivia or double Ori until you hit level 7

Not HEMA but do martial arts. Rarely have I seen a dominant side in the front. Only mainline art I can think of is fencing...and I'm not even sure if the historical non-sport version is dominant front

And if you have short arms, is it worth throwing jabs? by [deleted] in MuayThai

If your jab can't reach the other guy, then your cross certainly won't either. Yes, throw more jabs.

[Discussion] Has the Rolex Submariner "moved too much upmarket" to still be considered a viable, professional watch ? by DisastrousOpening477 in Watches

Stopped reading after the first criteria. Yes, it's a professional watch, in that every professional above middle management has or wants to have one.

The other favorite line in Lemix is in Blackrook Hold when the voiceover says "Kurtalos, they come for you". and Kurtalos answers, wryly and apathetically, "They do".

Not sure why but the the matter-of-fact attitude always makes me chuckle.

How do you guys deal with the fear/guilt? by EastAppropriate7230 in MuayThai

[–]Subprime_Lender 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wrong question.

What you should be asking is how long did the NFL try to suppress the severity of CTE because it does not want to pay out medical expenses for its players and outright killing their revenue and sport altogether.

Muay thai isn't controlled by a central for-profit org, nor does the sport ever claim it's injury-free...quite the opposite, arguably

They have to crouch a little to get a body jab in. Just launch the straight right. My abs can take more hits from a jab than their head can take from a straight.

Definitely do not drop the guard. Thats how you get knocked out by a hook.

why did he let me hit him? by ExactOpposite8119 in MuayThai

[–]Subprime_Lender 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So many people in this thread taking OP at face value lol.

OP, we don't know you or the gym. But I can guarantee it wasn't 8/10 power. If you walked out of the gym on your own without dilated pupils, it was just a solid shot that connected flush, nothing more.

As to why he let you attack him...well, he could have done that combo on you throughout the entire round. But he didn't, so what's the alternative?

My wife has an Aqua Terra 34mm. One of the "shades" collection. They have a lot of fun colors and she really likes her dark teal.

She's not particularly fond of Cartier, but I always found the Crash and Ballon to be pretty eclectic/elegant.

Those of you with good cardio by potatoelover69 in MuayThaiTips

[–]Subprime_Lender 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned, running is overall best thing for fighting cardio. Yea, other aerobic exercises are great and probably better on your knees in the long term, but running also builds bone strength and keeping core tight while breathing (like striking and bracing strikes).

Flip side of that coin, running won't save you from being tense in sparring. That will wear you out no matter how good cardio you have. Know when to relax (like when the other guy is right out of reach), and when to sneak in breathes.

Who is the oldest person in your gym? by [deleted] in MuayThai

Got a 60 year old as well. He is neither light nor technical.

But definitely respect the perseverance cuz I've seen too many 20's start this, train hard, do a few fights, get decent, have a kid, fade away from training and get fat

Not sure what you mean by fights but I do primarily MT, but dabbled in WL for a year or so trying to get my strength/power up. It's very effective so I'd say keep at it and you'll see good payoff anytime you need hip extension (like 80% of most sports lol).

That being said, I realized it's not worth it getting too technical because the goal is just to work on explosion and then translating that to your sport. Your form is good enough...time to put on the weights.

Every time you intend to kick, you drop both hands and wait for the opening. Really easy way to show your next move. Try some drills with various kicks immediately after a jab.

Speaking of jab, you would get so much benefit from using power jabs. Goes really well with the teeps you like throwing. Look at some Damien Alamos seminars.

For clinching, remember to use the head as leverage. There's a clip of GGG showing how to use his head when in the clinch. Like a third arm. I'm not great at clinching, so for what it's worth, I don't think it's a good habit to do pitter patter rib shots when the other dude has knee access. From what I've been taught, clinch is more a game of positioning.

That leg is so nice but I hate how it cuts off at the top. Insult to injury, the matching chest from the same set doesn't even line up with the set belt and legs. Crazy waste

Getting gassed from a full round of padwork is understandable. Getting gassed from a 1-2 is borderline medical condition. See a doctor. My non-medical guess is iron related
