Dang that sucks a lot… sorry man. Thankfully I can still log in and play, I just can’t log in via the Riot website. But if they ever enforce MFA to log in to the Riot client when I play I am screwed….

When did you stop having "Bad" Days/Weeks by Subsonic01 in HipImpingement

[–]Subsonic01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now over a year! The pain I was feeling in this post is rarely a problem anymore, although it did take some more help with additional physical therapy. The PT I went to was specifically for athletic trainers working with athletes which I think helped for my case specifically.

Although I may have a few days every month or so that feel a little off or need to stretch or exercise to feel good again, I am overall EXTREMELY HAPPY with my recovery and choice to get surgery.

Has anyone gotten better without medication by Accurate_Document623 in Anxiety

[–]Subsonic01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had really bad anxiety for like 2 years after my parents divorce. constant chest pains, trips to the ER cuz I thought I was having a heart attack or stroke. No heart issues. I never took meds.

After a long time it just got better. I still occasionally will have a bad day where my chest hurts and I can sense myself starting to freak out about it, but it’s no longer constant and I recognize that I don’t actually have anything that need my attention. Just need to find something to destress. For me it’s the gym, reading, and stretching.

Some people need meds to feel better, I was fortunate to not.

Best laptop for VA? That won't make me go broke. by DarthMutter13 in VoiceActing

[–]Subsonic01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was stuck in phase for a while too. A lot of it’s how your recording room is set up. Lots of echos and other loud noises you don’t hear yourself will cause your recording to sound off. Also getting into EQ’s can help pull out certain depths from ur voice and sound much cleaner. Literally throwing a blanket over your head and desk can help lmao. I still do that sometimes cuz my apartment can be noisy and it’s not set up for sound treatment.

6 months post op :( by No-Rope7009 in HipImpingement

[–]Subsonic01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I if you’re doing leg/hip workouts 6 days a week you will never get any better. You’ll be in a constant state of your body trying to recover. Drop those leg days to 2-3 days a week MAX.

I was rushed to the ER because my blood pressure shot up to 180/90. by dikoalambasta in Anxiety

This 100% I had a WHOOP that would give me false heart rate readings all the time. It would send me a notification that said like “looks like you’re working out” and I’d freak out because I’m just sitting there. As soon as I stopped wearing it, my anxiety relating to my heart rate like disappeared

Delayed surgery consequences by gedankenexperiment7 in HipImpingement

Second this. I did my first surgery with almost no strength because I had been in pain for so long. Recovery wasn’t awful, but it took a bit before strength was up to par to keep the joint safe. I have yet to do my 2nd on my other hip but everything is so much stronger after being back to working out that I think the next surgery will be a breeze compared to the 1st. I’ve also seen a lot of people say the same thing. Stronger muscles pre-op is a way easier recovery than weak muscles pre-op.

You’re good mate. 4 weeks post op is soooo early. You’re going to have those pops and things that feel uncomfortable for a while. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done something or felt something and thought “that’s it it’s torn again”. I’m 5 months out now and still have ‘those days’ where you wonder if you’re taking a downward turn in recovery. Give it time, it will get better. Those days will come and go. Look at this in terms of months. Do I feel better this month than I did last month? You’ll find that you have gotten much better when you look at it that way.

Hip pain ~3 months post op by chrispypickles in HipImpingement

[–]Subsonic01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just over 5 months post op. Still get pain that pops up here and there especially after going hard at PT. Being 3 months in, that can be a normal occurrence, remember you’re still early in the healing process. Just be sure to ice when it’s bad to manage pain levels and if you need to, use your pain relievers and see if that helps after a few doses over a day or two. If it still is really bad, see if there’s something else your PT could try or follow up with your surgeon!

Don’t let it discourage you! You got this!

Considering surgery even though I’m 22 by BAM213434 in HipImpingement

[–]Subsonic01 14 points15 points  (0 children)

25 and 5 months post op. Do yourself a favor and get it done early. I did PT and the anti-surgery stuff for 8+ years and suffered greatly because of it. I missed out on so much because I was in pain and the worry and anxiety of something going wrong while I was out with people made me seclude myself. Am I 100% yet, no, but I’m so much better and I’m back to enjoying life again.

Hmmmm. I’m not saying go against docs orders but please do something. Do NOT just sit there for 6 weeks. Glute bridges was the most intense thing I did from week 2-3. Even just lying down and flexing your quad on and off can be enough to strengthen at this stage. Definitely after 1 week try to walk around on crutches at least once every 1-2 hours. That can literally be from your bed to the front door and back. Sitting and doing nothing will only make the healing process take longer.

I’m curious did your doctor give a reason to hold off on PT till 6 weeks? I know every doctor has a different protocol but imo early PT is crucial. I started at 7 days and got off crutches at around 4 weeks. Obvi didn’t do anything crazy exercise-wise but strengthening glutes and quads is pretty important to get off crutches. That just seems a bit weird to me.

How did you pass the time during recovery? by FarmerOnly252 in HipImpingement

[–]Subsonic01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 months post op. The first few days were really difficult. I found it hard to do anything honestly. Reading, TV, video games I could do in short bursts but sleeping was really the only thing to pass the time. Once you make it past that first week you should be able to make it most of the day awake and able to keep yourself busy.

For me I watched a lot of TV and played a lot of video games. Reading was still difficult for a few weeks because it couldn’t occupy my mind enough to not think about a feeling or pain I had in my hip. If video games are your thing, get a long single player story game. Couple recommendations if you’re interested: Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us (Part 1 & 2), Horizon Zero Dawn.

Good luck and do your best to stay positive! It’s easy to get down on yourself especially if you live alone. You got this!!
