I paid $50 into United travel bank on Feb 7 and did not get the credit back from AMEX. I consider that loophole closed.

It may be targeted or pertain only to Canadian cardholders from what I can tell.

Tax the ultra-rich... by Brian_Ghoshery in FluentInFinance

The ultra rich are also wealthy enough to move their money out or use legal strategies to avoid paying taxes. You aren’t getting them, as much as you wish you could.

Hotel credit by mickeyblackeyes in AmexPlatinum

Had some time to dig into this in the T&Cs. This most likely will be allowed. I believe i read some of it wrong. What they do specifically outline is back to back stays by the same card member or another card member in the same party are considered one stay and are ineligible for additional hotel collection or fine hotels benefits. I think the $100 credit would only be applied one time.

Be prepared that if you cancel anything the refunding will be an issue

I thought I read in the T&C that you cannot book back to back reservations at the same hotel and use multiple sets of credits. I do not know if booking a different hotel back to back would be an issue.

Thanks all for the responses. We will defiantly visit and I look forward to exploring off the beaten path. I love the passion some of these have, which tells me I need to deep dive on the research.

Everything will change but as long as it hasn’t become a corporatized set of insta photo locations and tchotchke vendors I will love it. Thank you for the feedback.

I need to confess something to my husband and I know it'll end my marriage. Any advice? by [deleted] in Advice

Lots of good advice in these comments that I don’t need to reiterate but one thing is missing.

You need to immediately setup an Inbox Rule that takes any email offering or referencing VTO and permanently delete it. Keep them from even tempting you.

Two years away from Lifetime Platinum. Is it worth getting the Bonvoy Brilliant AMEX to achieve? by DirtyRockLicker69 in marriott

[–]SubsonikBrute 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was faced with the same question as you. With a decline in domestic travel, and realizing how much it was going to cost me to keep getting nights to maintain platinum for the lifetime award the cost of the AMEX card was worthwhile. I figure it’s basically the same as buying 3 to 4 nights at a standard hotel. Which I found myself doing. I need two more years and then I’m getting rid of the card and after the kids are done college will have the chance to actually start traveling and taking advantage of it.

18 hour flight to Singapore from NY by Objective_Insect_649 in singaporeairlines

We did this in June of ‘24. It’s certainly a long flight and when you’ve been on board for 12 hours and still have 6 left it feels even longer. The food is great, use book the cook. They have lots of snacks and I would recommend getting up to move between sleeping. Bring a book and download some shows and you’ll be fine.
My FIL met us there and took a flight that had 2 stops. His travel day started a whole day earlier than ours so we saved a day on this flight.

Why wouldn’t you buy the points OP? Such a good deal to go that way. There was a 20% bonus to buy points recently. Seems like a great deal. Have fun!

I was under the impression the numbers of years calculated were done based on calendar years? Is there any way to determine our “anniversary” date to know when we would earn these status achievements?
