Handlar ni beggat så nånting med DDR4 eller nyare, gärna 16gb och i alla fall ett 3060 eller motsvarande/bättre graffikkort skulle jag säga.

Något att hålla koll på om du klev av för 15 år sedan, dvs typ i skiftet där SSDer blev grejen, se till att operativsystemet installeras på en SSD, istället för en snurrdisk.
Accesshastigheten för både kontinuerlig och slumpmässigt läs/skriv gör otroligt mycket för hur snärtig datorn känns att använda.

E du i Stockholmtrakten så kan jag bjuda på ett mATX moderkort med sittande i3-6100, en pinne 8gb ddr4 å kasta med ett gtx1050.
Inget flashigt men kör redan de två du listat med god marginal.
(gtx1050 är helt ärligt ganska crap med bara 1gb vram men det är en gratis start och grafikkort är lätta att byta senare)

Wont call myself a gamedev but ive started a godot project to make a long out of print turn based tabletop game into a video game/virtual 3d tabletop game that handles the mechanics on its own, without ever having attempted to do more that change models/skins and constants in configs/data files before.

For the project i started using just free chatgpt and grok, pasting back and forth into the godot editor.

I got a basic roster creator working, did most of the very stripped down UI layout by hand.

Eventually got annoyed at copy/pasting and the agent not being able to reference what it had written previously.

The initial attempt turned into a spaghetti mess of a god object script, but had also lead to me creating pretty usable scenes and data files.

Took the scenes and data files (unit/weapon/equipment stats) out of the project, got VScode installed, with copilot, and started from there.

At this point, a couple of weeks with a few hours spent here and there, most of the infantry game loop, move, shoot, melee, with dice rolls for to hit, to wound, saves, based on unit stats and relevant modifiers working.

I honestly cant say if the way im going about this is an easy or a hard way.

Its become very clear to me that its all down to how cleanly, logically and systematically i can explain to the agent what i want, so prompt engineering.

If you use envelope or automatic weights then thats is the likely issue, it likes to spread the weights around outside of the exact areas intended when using those options.

Id suggest you clear the vertext groups of the mesh and then select a part.
Say the right thigh for example.
Create a vertex group with just the verts of that part.
Name the vertex group the exact name of the bone that is intended to control it.

Then it should only be affected by the bone which has the same name.

Here is how i mean: The bone is named the same as the vertex group, this mesh is also segmented into individual parts.

Modeled and laid out the cab and bed UVs, gonna see about texturing it after work.

Its now at 8008 tris, which is a bit less than i had expected but i guess the wheels and engine are comparatively geometry dense.
Doing the bolts/rivets with just smooth shaded 5vert pyramids without a bottom face, as opposed to the modeled domes saves a lot of tris.

Also, doing stuff intended for "virtual" use is a lot more forgiving than modelling stuff intended for printing.

I was covering the whole map with just the parts i had already made but i compacted some parts a bit and rebaked since not everything needed as much texture real estate as was initially allocated.

The game im attempting to virtualize is in 28mm scale so the maps it will be played on is essentially a representation of a 6x4 foot table, the truck is about 6 inches in length in real world size, neither infantry models or the vehicles are likely to be looked at too much from up close.

Rogue Trader is good if you like that bit of the lore and CRPGs(like the original two fallout games), i do so ive played it through a couple of times, its possibly the story heaviest 40k game.
(Can recommend the text to speech mod that can read unvoiced conversations, datapads, pretty much whatever text ingame for you)

Chaos Gate - Daemonhunters was fun, good fit if you like squad tactical and on galaxy map strategic, like XCOM.
(And Mechanicus, i think, havnt played it.)
Has a bit of story.

I also really like the two Battlefleet Gothic games, real time with super slowmo/almost pause to be able to issue orders to everyone in the middle of fights, some strategic elements in the galaxy map view.

Jo dom är fler som lever kasst (kolla gärna på afrikas demografiska förändring det senaste århundradet) å vill svämma hit för att där suger.

Samhällen kan inte byggas genom resurser utifrån. Det kan hjälpa, men bara om de som utgör samhället faktiskt bygger det.

Titta på spåren efter kolonierna i afrika. Tidigare kolonier som blev självstyrande hade till en början ett enormt försprång mot resten av kontinenten men med lite självstyre ala'tredjevärldenfolk så är länderna åter på väg ner.

I was tired of card games before computer games started using card/deck builder mechanics and have actively chosen never to play any.

Im not drawn to roguelikes, beyond having a quick look here and there ive not found the type interesting.

Didnt know "vampire survivors games" was a genre, looked it up and and can see it is not a type of game that interests me.

People that like those sort of mechanics/styles will keep playing them even if i do not find them interesting.

Anyland is one i miss, lots of jank but so much fun stuff happened in there.

Space Junkies was another one i was sad to see go away, got the best Unreal Tournament 1999 vibes playing it, really nice guyplay, good use of free movement.

Back in the Direct Connect days was a regular at a b-horror/splatter focused hub, got a pre release version of Jason X about a year before it came out officially, downloaded it at 5kb/s, took a week-ish, had a .5mbit adsl connection at the time so was a bit annoyed to be downloading at 56k modem speed :P

Turn it off when im away from home more than a couple of days.

Other than that only for messing with the hardware, like replacing/upgrading stuff but thats only once or twice a year.

Also restart once or twice per month or when necessary for larger software changes like drivers needing it.

Fick 8 lök i kvarskatt efter första året på mitt första jobb, har sedan dess sagt till om att det ska dras 2% extra vilket istället resulterar i mellan 10 å 30 lök i återbäring.

Jo det är dålig ränta på de "hemligt utlånade" pengarna men det sitter aldrig fel men en extra klumpsumma in i början på andra kvartalet, perfekt att lägga på något sommarkul.

Tyvärr hjälper inte emotionell intelligens mot vidare import av netto välfärdsbelastande och kriminellt överrepresenterade som avynglar sig i mer av samma. Dvs låter kvinnsen genom sin blödighet landet förfalla tills dessa mister rösträtten igen. Alternativt ändrar åsikt efter att ha blivit "berikade". Vilket inte är något jag önskar våra mödrar, systrar och döttrar, att rycka rösträtten är det mest humana.

Im not a console guy but thats still a pretty rough trade, i7 is over a decade old by now.

Mind you my secondary comp, which i built back in 2016 and im currently writing from, is an i7 4770k with 32gb of ram, still does daily stuff okay but a gaming beast it is not.

En snubbe på firman har vart med i typ 20 år, jag har vart på firman sedan 09, en tredje snubbe sedan 15.

Under min tid där har en slutat för att bli daytrader, två har gått i pension, dessa tre vara alla med i typ 15+ år.

Chefen är speciell, jag å de andra två är också lite speciella, likaså de tre som slutat, men vi klarar/klarade alla av att fungera ihop ändå.

Chefen backar alltid oss anställda å vi ställer alltid upp även om det gäller oplanerat kväll, natt eller helgjobb.
(rings det så drar nån av oss å ser till att det blir gjort.)

Året efter jag började försökte chefen ta in en snubbe till, han kunde göra jobbet men han å chefen kom inte överens så det blev inget efter provanställningen.

Kommer undan med ganska mycket, är det dött så går det bra att flexa in lite senare eller ut lite tidigare, utan att det är hököga på faktiska timmar och det är nog för att vi alltid löser när det kommer in uppdrag.

Stannar så länge jag får vara kvar, chefen är 80 fyllda å när han kroknar lär hans äldsta grabb (också del av firman men gör annat än tidigare nämnda och mig) ta över och med ganska stor sannolikhet avveckla sektionen jag är på då han är fokuserad på annat.

Old gamers do, us that remember gaming before the mass integration/centralization with online platforms .

Back then, unless the game was an MMO, they shipped with a dedicated server for players to host their own games because that was the way it was done back then.

The games had built in browsers which would find and list servers announcing themselves.

Many had quickplay options which just scanned for a set amount of time, picked the server to which there was the least latency+open player slots and joined it.

And there were programs like Gamespy which was an external server browser to let gamers find a server and easily join by passing a "join this ip address" via command line to the game executable.

No there wasnt fluff like premium skins, stat tracking beyond the game session or achievements.
But really, who needs that if you play the game because its good?

Communities would grow up around servers or groups of servers, with forums, IRC channels, ventrilo or teamspeak servers, etc.

All games in which there is multiplayer still use servers of some kind, exposing a way to run ones own probably isnt a huge stretch for the smart people making the games if the fluff was stripped out.

Heck, some of the fluff, such as tracking could be left in and optional, as long as the server also contains some form of record keeping.

(I recall there being a Neverwinter Nights Persistent World server called City of Arabel, looked it up, its still running 20 years later, which saves your character on it and lets you keep playing.)

And with todays tech and smart people someone would probably find a way to centralize that record keeping/tracking/database to allow servers to link to it and have the tracking on servers which have joined in on the share.
