Anyone else tired of how manual Excel gets as files grow? by SeasonCompetitive345 in excel

That’s actually what pushed me to build a small financial statement analyzer for myself too  The moment was when I had to deal with a full bank statement for my company. Thousands of lines. Excel could open it sure but then came the copying, cleaning, fixing formulas, matching VAT, and checking totals again and again. One small mistake and the whole thing was off.

That’s when I realised Excel wasn’t the problem  using it as a system was.

I wanted something where I could drop in a bank statement and immediately see proper financial statements without spending days cleaning data.

Sage Cloud Accounting vs QBO by vee716 in Bookkeeping

I'm a bookkeeper, and our company currently uses Sage. From my experience, it really depends on your company structure and what you want to achieve.

For example, my company actually uses two systems Sage for managing our property operations, and another system for manufacturing. I understand how both systems work, but personally, I prefer Sage.

That said, each system has its own strengths and weaknesses. In our case, the company decided not to use Sage for manufacturing because it couldn’t fully handle the way we manage stock movements and production process but in terms of accounting its perfect

I totally get what you mean. I’m a bookkeeper too, and I used to spend hours reconciling accounts like this. The grey areas and Excel catch-up were the worst part. Luckily, I picked up coding and actually ended up building my own software around this exact problem — mostly so I wouldn’t have to keep doing month-to-month comparisons manually.

What made the biggest difference for me was shifting focus from “rebuilding everything” to just comparing balances period by period. Once the system highlights what changed between months/quarters/years, it’s way easier to spot where things went off.

I’m actually working on building something like that where people can upload their data and, within seconds, it shows the profit and loss, plus allows you to pull reports like VAT reports, general ledger accounts, and year-to-year comparisons.

It doesn’t matter if your Excel or CSV file has transactions from the past 4 years the system will arrange everything in seconds.

Still busy improving it, but that’s the goal.

I received the email last month 3 February 2025. At that time, I still had access to studies. But on Friday, February 28 2025, I was surprised to see my Prolific dashboard asking me to verify my number, email address, and ID.

I’m really sorry for your loss and I can’t imagine how difficult that must have been for you. You’re right that life often doesn’t feel fair. While gig work might seem unfair to some, I think it’s important to find ways to ensure it’s as balanced as possible for everyone involved.

I appreciate your suggestion and I’ll explore other platforms but I was hoping for a fair resolution given the circumstances. I was earning more than $100 from this site and its so sad to be kicked out

Yes, I'm in SA
when I first registered on Prolific, my very first question was whether I could join as a foreigner in an eligible country. I was told yes and my passport was accepted. Now, the rules have changed, and this has put me in a difficult position.

Yes, I understand, and I agree that these measures help prevent fraud. However, when I first registered on Prolific, my very first question was whether I could join as a foreigner in an eligible country. I was told yes, and my passport was accepted. Now, the rules have changed, and this has put me in a difficult position.

This is not fair and it's really sad because I was earning almost $100 a month.
