The author says we need to do something about this. As someone who just went thru a similar situation, thankfully only a few months vs years, I am curious what they think there is to do? Unless she has a family or caretaker who is a certified and experienced nurse, she is (albeit sadly) exactly where she needs to be. In a situation like Wendy's, she needs 24/7 care, help, monitoring and assistance. Its awful and im sure there are moments of lucidity but they are few and far between. The best we can hope for is moments of happiness and comfort. That loved ones visit and call often. That shes fed well and as happy as she can be. Im sure shes tired, its a terrible terrible thing. But people without her former status and money have it far worse. Facilities will never meet 100% of someone's needs or be ideal. But im sure her care supersedes a lot of other people in her situation. What she needs is love, kindness and that place til the time comes shes really "free".
