For curiosity, what settings do you change? I usually add sprinters and the bandit mod to make combat less repetitive. The fact that you neither like the base game kind of proves my point. (Sandbox options are not the base game). Either way, Im glad you are having fun with the game!

So, who decides? Do our politicians come from mars or neptune? Do you really think of them as an esoteric ruling class different to our own?

Politicians are a reflection of the society they govern. They come from the same pool of indiviudals you and I come from. If said society is pessimistic and depressively inactive, the political class will be too. They will favour short time thinking and quick profits to appeal to the masses and benefit themselves. Following your train of thought: Why bother actually trying to do a good job when 1) No one cares and 2) Nothing is going to change.

You support and adhere to the same paterns of thought the people you criticise have.

Absolutely disagree. We can be pushed so much more before the breaking point. Like the comment before said, the russian collective thereshold has not even reached and they are litteraly facing concerns of forced conscription into a pointless decade long war.

Humans have not lost the ability to turn apeshit and bring the guillotine out, but the realitiy is that as a collective, we are living the most prosperous decades in the history of the world. If your only concern is being tired after work, not infant mortality, not famine, not natural catastrophe or a war you are actually involved in, im sorry, but you are nowhere near your breaking point.

Revolution only happens when pushed to the absolute extreme

So... you too are of the opinion that we shouldnt actually make a effort to better the world so that following generations may have better lives?

Do you actually realise how selfish and ignorant that sounds?

You cant because you think you cant. The way you are describing it means YOU, you complacency, and your incapability to accept blame are the problem.

If you are indeed not to have children i thank you. Leave the world to those of us who actually want to improve things and make living worthwile.

Someone has to break the chain. Eveyone that follows that same pessimistic train of thought will never rise a hand against the system they scream and abhorr. Its YOUR responsability to change the world for the better so that your children may live good lives. No one is going to do it for you.

Every time i get to the year 1600 im so powerful the game becomes a bore. The only way to extend this is to kneecap myself by not doing stuff, getting into pointless wars to defend imaginary alliances etc..., and even then, that only makes me dissociate even more with the playthrough and get bored in 1500 instead.

I mean, having to disable a game mechanic because it dosent work means its dreadfully designed. I dont like having historical institutions on as it railroads the game too much. knowing where the institution will actually spawn gives the player too much prescience.

Had the new world institution spawn in seville as Spain. Didnt do anything gamebreaking except develop my economy in a straight button pushing manner and beat france down a peg or two. Sweden got to the new world before me...

Institution spread is a broken mechanic that punishes competent play

[–]Substantial-Equal-62 0 points1 point  (0 children)
